Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author K. Bromberg is back with a heartfelt stand-alone romance and a new hero to steal your heart....

Lennox:

The contract with Major League Soccer was supposed to help repair my damaged reputation. Then I discovered that I’d made a deal with the devil: The player I’m supposed to recruit is none other than the bad-boy star Premier League footballer Rush McKenzie.

British. Tattooed. Sexy. A man currently at the center of a huge scandal.

The goal? To convince him to stay in the States.

But what’s wrong with a little fun in the meantime? No strings. No sweet nothings. Just a way to pass the time while we’re both struggling to prove our true selves to the world.

If someone found out our relationship was anything more than professional, it would only serve to prove all our critics right.

Rush:

I never should have agreed to take the fall. But I did, and I’m a man of my word.

Even if it means risking everything I’ve worked for.

The only bright side is Lennox Kincade.

Gorgeous. Defiant. Rumor-tainted. Totally off-limits.

Sharing a house with the gorgeous sports agent should have been a fun distraction from the turmoil. Someone to help pass the time while the tensions back home die down.

But what started as nothing ends up as something I never saw coming.

Another great book!!!

I swear K. Bromberg always get me crying!! This was a great story. Rush only ever wanted to be a footballer. He had a really hard childhood and did anything to get by. Because of something that happened in his childhood he feels in debt to someone. He takes the blame for something he didn’t do. His agent tells him to come to L.A. and to help promote their league. Let things die down. Turns out he ends up meeting a agent who he starts to fall for. She’s the perfect woman because she too only knows this is for a short time. They both don’t want to be tied down. They don’t expect to fall for each other. He can tell
She cares about him in a way no one since his mom had. She’s giving him advice that favours him and it’s not the same advice his agent is giving. He wants what’s good for him and his pockets not listening or his client. Shane East and Vanessa Edwin were so good in this story! Five Stars!!

Romance Novel Perfection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh man, was this book amazing!! I don’t take time to write a lot of reviews - I’m usually too busy trying to find my next book - but this story was so incredible, I just had to take a moment to praise it. I give it ALL THE STARS!!! Bromberg is one of my favorite authors and she simply outdid herself with this one! It was everything and more a romance novel should be. Beautifully written. A flawless mix of sexy and sweet, alluring yet relatable. Lennox and Rush were a perfect fit for each other and it was a pleasure to take this ride to their HEA with them. I was rooting for them the entire time, invested in the outcome. Very likable main characters - damaged but lovable, and both good to their cores, both worthy of finding their happy ending. Great side characters as well. I also personally enjoy a sports romance...and what’s not to love about a gorgeous, talented and loyal British footballer who meets his match in a sexy, strong sports agent with a heart of gold! If stories this top-notch were released everyday, I’d never accomplish anything in life...completely swept me away! The narration was excellent - and I could listen to Shane East’s sexy British accent all day, everyday. Basically, this was romance novel magic! Best use of a credit, ever!!!

Loving this series

I am new to K. Bromberg books and loving her style with this series. Some of the reviews on the first book were brutal. Glad I did not follow along with those opinions and gave this series a chance. Emotion, humor, drama, and a story that kept my attention, with a beautiful happy ever after ending: what more can you want? Looking forward to the 3rd Kincaid sister’s story.

soooo good

rush and Lennox have a beautiful story. Kristy is one of those few authors that can pull you in from the first word and this story was no different. I can't wait to see how the other 2 sisters story unfolds. but by far she writes the BEST dads in her stories. Kenyon is an amazing character that you can feel his deep bear hugs through the pages.

I’m a fan!

The second book in the Play Hard series, Hard to Hold was a favorite for me. Rush is a super sexy, amazingly talented soccer (football) star and all-around stand-up guy with integrity for days who falls for the tough as nails, go-for-broke, beautiful wandering soul and sports agent Lennox. The storyline was compelling, thought provoking, and realistic while including super steamy scenes and well developed characters. Shane East and Vanessa Edwin are a new favorite power couple of narration for me and their performance was spot on. Heading straight to the next in the series.

Enjoyed.

Shane East did a fantastic job! The female narrator was a little to whispery for my liking.

Good story. I enjoy sports romances. Lenox was a bit on the selfish side. Did things just to prove a point but then ended up doing exactly what everyone thought of her. The beginning I really didn’t care for her. I do however like that the sisters are not the same.
Rush is such a loyal guy to a fault. After protecting teammates and getting thrown under the bus, he finally gets everything he deserves.

Felt like it was missing something

This is the second book in the Play Hard series and focuses on Lennox, one of the Kincade sisters, and Rush, a football player from the UK. They both end up at a mutual friend's house in LA while trying to escape the rumors, scandals and general chaos in their professional lives.

I didn't enjoy this story as much as the first in the series. All of the real conflict is with forces external to the relationship developing between the 2 main characters. They both have difficult issues from their past and have to address them in order to find their HEA, but I didn't get any real sense of conflict between them. There was no dark moment to the story/relationship which left it feeling a little anticlimactic. The story was still sweet and sad in spots making it worth the read overall, but it didn't make me sob or give me the feels I would have liked with this type of story. It was a sweet romance but left me wanting.

The narration was good and Shane and Vanessa were both convincing in their characters' stories. If the story was darker/deeper they would have been able to handle it as they both have good range and talent from what I've heard in other audiobooks.

I didn't dislike the book, I just felt is was missing something. The relationship was a little too easy/convenient which took some of the question of "how will they come back to each other" out of it which I really enjoy. I also didn't feel like there was ever a real risk of them losing out professionally (whatever happened they would have been fine) so the struggle didn't feel very strong in the drama. 2.5/5 story, 4/5 narration.

Great Soccer Romance with a delicious Brit

“He’s the one who quiets my restlessness.” Review: This is Book 2 in the Play Hard series. It focuses on Lennox, who is the 2nd youngest Kincade sister. Lennox is the former beauty queen turned sports agent. She is good at what she does, but needs a break. Rush is a star Footballer from Liverpool at the top of his game. He heads to California to hide out in hopes of a scandal blowing over. Lennox and Rush have the best first meeting. Can you say hot?🥵 They are both staying at their mutual friend Johnny's house to escape their lives. There is an instant attraction between the two of them. Lennox is determined not to get involved with Rush though. She wants to prove to herself and everyone else that she is a hardworking professional that doesn't use her looks to get what she wants. After all, she has a job to do. Rush of course believes it's no ones business what they do. The chemistry between these two and pull to each other was undeniable. These two were so hot together and I loved them. They are both not as they seem and their walls are built high. Together they see inside each other and start to brake them down. Rush is incredible, loyal and always trying to do the right thing. His story touched my heart. I got emotional as I listened to all that brought him to where he is today. Lennox and Rush were perfect for each other. Their HEA made me swoon. I loved the update on Hunter and Dekker. I hope Johnny gets his own book. He was an amazing best friend to Lennox and kept me laughing! I listened to the audiobook by Shane East and Vanessa Edwin. Vanessa was new for me, but she did an excellent job. They both did a great job and were perfect for their characters.
