Publisher's Summary

Have a Nice Day features a live multi-cast script reading captured over two evenings in October of 2018 at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.

Tony and Emmy Award-winner Billy Crystal leads an all-star cast including Oscar winner Kevin Kline (President David Murray) and four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (First Lady Katherine Murray) in a performance of this hilarious and poignant story about a man desperately scrambling to put his affairs in order: to save his presidency, his marriage, his relationship with his daughter - and possibly his life.

President David Murray starts the day in crisis. He’s lost control of Congress, has to decide whether to run for a second term, and his wife and teenage daughter are barely talking to him. What’s more, the Angel of Death has sent a rather inept “repo man” who is at the foot of his bed, giving him only one more day to live.

Cast members include Justin Bartha, Irene Bedard, Annette Bening, Chris Cafero, Dick Cavett, Auli'i Cravalho, Billy Crystal, Rachel Dratch, Darrell Hammond, Christopher Jackson, Robert King, Kevin Kline, and Robin Thede.

Awful

I was hoping for funny, it's just mundane. Dull. I didn't even wait for the other actors. Pass.

Easy listening and a lovely story, I enjoyed it very much. Written as a play but still very easy to follow along.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Loved this, it immediately engaged me, and held my attention all the way through. Part of it the actual tale, and the other part being the familiar voices, and the expressiveness of their reading that made the experience so enjoyable.

Great Listen!

Loved it. Billy Crystal, Kevin Cline and Dick Cavett are the best. Not a fan of Annette Benning but she was good as the President's wife. Having just lost my beloved husband, I could relate to this story. Gave me pause for thought.

Like a daytime woman's channel made for TV movies.

Just a bunch of cliché clumsily put together. Naive and lazy story. Uninteresting. I am not sure what type of public it aims at, it is superficial and simplistic.

Midlife crisis in the white house

This is a fun comedy about POTUS having a midlife crisis. His teenage daughter is pulling away, and embarrassed by him. His wife is missing their old life (which causes a silly, funny scene where they try relive a game they played back when they were young, poor newlyweds). He also needs to decide if he wants to run for a second term - after having a rather unsuccessful first term. All this while dealing whit the media and paparazzi.

While it is about the POTUS, it is not caught up much in modern politics. Which party this guy is from was not clear to me. There was no obvious jabs at the current president (I which I guess is good or bad, depending on your view of him). It's a comedy about people, with a political background, not a political comedy.

It is a live recording of a performance, in front of an audience. The quality of the recording reflects that. It is fairly good, but not perfect. As with a live audience you do get a lot of laughter in the recording. The All-Star class is great. Really enjoyable.

This is a winner!

Loved this Audible Original! Was funny, serious, and sentimental. The cast was great and I could easily distinguish the different characters’ voices. The message of the play at the end brought tears to my eyes and made me smile at the same time. Definitely recommend.

Best audiostory I ever heard

I started listening to this story before going to bed as I always do. I usually listen for 15 minutes before falling asleep. This time I could not stop listening and finished the whole recording. It is 2:55 am now. Even though I have a busy workday tomorrow, I felt that I had to write this review and thank Audible for this gift.

This is an amazing story and performances of the cast were extraordinary. I am recommending this audiostory to my family and my friends.

Again, thank you Audible. 👍

SO well done!

Wonderful story, beautifully told. It was easy to picture the players, the sets, and the experiences the characters were having. The solid, funny, clever story told marvelously by fabulous reader/actors. I highly recommend it!
