À propos de cet audio

Hazard: A game of Chance and Luck, made riskier when Fate is rolling the dice.

For Aristide Delacroix, the first throw summons shades from his past. A man he had met, just once, over a card-table... and the lovely girl indirectly responsible for plunging his life into catastrophe.

For Lord Nicholas Wynstanton, tired of waiting for Madeleine Delacroix to make up her mind, it slyly suggests he begin a whole new game with loaded dice; while for Madeleine, it devises a terrifying lesson in missed opportunities and the uncertainty of second chances.

And for Genevieve Westin, hoping widowhood will be happier than marriage, it brings a rude awakening - leaving a single, wild gamble as her only option.

A cardsharp turned businessman, a duke’s charming brother, a stubborn, razor-edged beauty, and a desperate widow.

Four players in a game of Hazard... all playing for very high stakes.

While I liked the plot, enjoyed the old characters re-appearing, and absolutely loved the narrator, Alex Wyndham, it's still not enough to give this more than a "like".

I didn't especially like any of the main characters. I still prefer Adrian and Caroline and the characters in the previous books (besides Adeline who I still don't like). Genevieve is just a downright pity case, with Aristede being her hero but otherwise not that great, and Madeleine is a rollercoaster of emotions that aren't that fun. Nicholas is the only character I really liked and was happy to see him have more action in this one.

Lots of dark content in this book - sexual, physical, verbal abuse, mixed in with ridiculous light scenes with puppies - very up and down, not my favourite. I prefer comedy and don't like it when authors add dark/grim/gruesome scenes just to make the characters more pathetic.

Each book brings more sexual content - and in this one, instead of being able to skip the last bedroom scene, they're now right in the middle and all over the place.

5 stars for the narrator
3 for the plot
2 for the characters

However, I enjoy being transported to 1770s England in these books and that's why I keep reading them.

Great narration, story only okay
