It was ok

I love all of the voice actors, but I think they were writing film humour for an audio story and it didn’t translate very well.

The Best

This was amazing. Kate MacKinnon is a comedic genius. She always makes me laugh but this was full belly laughs from beginning to end. I love how she can make you root for an unloveable tyrannical Queen. JoJo and Galafar really take this story to the next level. Their characters are everything. JoJo has so many amazing one liners if you listen carefully. The Best.

So Crass It Became Unfunny

I really wanted to like this because I love Kate McKinnon. I bought this because it was written and performed by her. However, most of the jokes were very crass and it got dull and boring fairly quickly. The story was lacking, there was barely a plot and absolutely no character arc/development. This story seems to ride on famous celebrities doing the voices, sex, and fart jokes. I was very disappointed. This humour can be funny in a short skit sometimes but for an audiobook that takes over 3 hours, it gets quite tiresome. Not to mention the (in world) advertisements and the insufferable narrators. Yeesh.

I was hoping for a lot. I got it

Kate McKinnon and the rest of the star studded cast did a great job here. Irreverent, sarcastic and current. Fantastic. I really hope they do one of these again.

Poor audio and not that funny

I’m a huge Kate McKinnon fan. Love her voice and her characters. But this was just silly in an unfunny way. The story was okay. But the sound editing was horrible! The voices would be very quiet, so I’d turn up the volume, turn up the volume, rewind the bit I missed, turn up the volume......then get blasted in the ear balls with the crazy theme song.......this happened over 20 times. Pissed me off royally! Pun intended.
The songs of the bards were quite cool and clever, but again there were lots of sound issues. Too quiet to hear and then shrill singing.
There were some funny silly parts but over all I didn’t enjoy it. Would not recommend, mainly because it’s been 2 days and I can’t get the theme song out of my head!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Awesome

Refreshingly funny, crass and not for people who can’t take a joke.

Of course Kate McKinnon can do no wrong, but apparently her sister is pretty awesome too.

More like this please

It's like an old school radio drama for a 2019 comedy audience. Great concept. The writing is funny and the story captivating. My first experience of Emily Lynne. Does she sing professionally? She should. I'd buy that album. Can we get more celebrities doing this sort of thing? Always a delight to get new Kate and Aidy content. Cheers!

SouthPark meets The Office at Medieval Times!

You can tell the All-Star cast had a blast creating this one! In between embarrassing laugh out loud moments (elliptical neighbors at the gym were ready to commit me!) and relishing the fresh, irreverent, and witty script, you start to realize that the storyline is a satire on modern work culture — and then you can’t stop listening! Hysterical and an easy, fast listen, Heads Will Roll makes for a fun and relaxing break in the day.

Um...I guess my expectations were too high

Always love Mc Kinnon. Every other time. Listen to this book just to hear all the voices. Don't bother with story or plot or the bards. It's a show. They got together and said "Let's put on a show!" And they did. And I bought it. And now I'm done.

Probably has at least something for everyone

It’s kind of all over the place. There are surely some funny moments to suit different tastes, the songs are entertaining, and the celebrity narrators are fun.

But there are lots of volume issues. It quickly goes from too loud to barely audible in quite a few places. I think I like the idea of the production better than its execution. Kate McKinnon and Tim Gunn did a really good job, but some of the other characters are quite grating. So I enjoyed parts of it, and was disappointed in others. But I think most people who are fans of Kate McKinnon will enjoy at least some of this production, so maybe give it a try if you’re willing to go along on a bumpy ride.

I demand that Audible instantiate a sixth star

I knew going in that this thing would be awesome. Some comedic actors have a direct link to my funny bone: Kate McKinnon is the living embodiment of my funny bone.

But this is far from being a one woman show. Emily Lynne took me to that wow place, especially with the singing: Ah, the singing.

Clever and witty, and brought to life in vivid colours through the talented voice work of an amazing cast, and the overall audio production is superb.

Seriously Audible, I need 6 stars.

Not impressed

Lots of gibberish, not impressed at all. Had a hard time listening to the book, gave it a good faith effort, tried till chapter 9 and gave up.

What a waste of talent.

I could barely get past the second episode. Great actors, juvenile script. Very disappointing. Sad to think this is being put forward as high budget (assuming based on A-list performers) comedy.

I loved it enough to write my first review!

The first few minutes is kind of a shock, because it’s like nothing you’ve heard before, but don’t let that turn you off, keep listening!

It’s different, definitely, but that’s what makes it so fantastic. I wouldn’t expect anything different from the mind of Kate McKinnon (and it must be a family trait because The co-creator Emily Lynne is fantastic!) Heads will roll intertwines historic tyranny with our modern version. I can’t wait for more!

love Kate McKinnon, but her talents can't save this hot mess. story is insipid and uninteresting. I kept waiting for it to get good... 3 hours of my life I will never get back.

Fantastic!

I wasn’t sure how this would go over because so much of comedy is the non-verbal; facial expressions, body language, etc. that in this format, you obviously can’t see. This was amazing! Kate and Emily are incredibly talented, as was the whole cast. It was laugh out loud funny the whole time. Definitely would love more of this type of comedy from this fantastic duo!
