Publisher's Summary

Happily ever after is easier said than done....

Sarah Matamoros can’t complain. After immigrating from Mexico when she was nine years old, she’s content with the life she’s made for herself in sunny San Diego. She works hard at her mother’s housecleaning service by day and spends the evenings with her quirky eight-year-old daughter, Grace.

From a very young age, Emory Owen had several concepts drilled into her head. Success is everything. Be the best. Fight your way to the top. Expectations were high in the Owen household and the world was watching. Born into a high society family, Emory never wanted for anything...at least anything money could buy. When she meets Sarah, hired to sort her mother’s home, her sterile life suddenly sparks into color.

But when the emotional logistics of combining two very different worlds proves to be too much, a terrifying turn of events spurs the question: If love exists, can it really find a way?

Heart Warming Heart Block

Heart Block by Melissa Brayden is one of those heartwarming stories that you want to settle down in a cozy spot and read/listen to when you are having a bad day. Just reading it will make you feel better and maybe bring a smile to your face.
This is a story of two women meeting and falling in love in spite of the fact that there are huge differences in their lives. Sarah is a single mother working in the family cleaning business. Her daughter, eight year old Grace has a medical problem involving her heart. Emory was raised in a high society family and is driven by their expectations to make a name for herself in business even though she secretly just wants to paint. The three meet by chance when Emory hires Sarah to help organize the home of Emory’s deceased mother for sale. Of course, the attraction begins and the sweet romance builds from there. All is not smooth in this story, though. There are quite a few roadblocks and some heartbreak involved in this tale. I’ll let you read and find these out.

This is a lovely and sweet romance. The characters are likeable and real. The story will make you smile and perhaps bring a tear to your eyes at times. The audible version, which I listened to, is excellently narrated.
I recommend it to all who love a good romance.

Good Listen

With the exceptions of some over reliance on cliches and a senseless breakup which seemed quite contrived I liked it. Even with a slight man bad; woman good attitude this was a nice listen. It made six hours of landscaping go by almost quickly. Even for guys I can recommend this book. It was a pleasant experience if you can overlook some of the obvious faults. The four stars were earned.

Sweet Story, Witty Writing & Fantastic Narration

What I loved about Heart Block was the combination of great writing and the way the narrator captured the spirit of the characters. This story was sweet without too much drama which I generally prefer for romance novels. This is definitely a story I will listen to many times.

Glad I finally bought this audible

This book came up a lot in my recommendations and lists I've searched but I kept skipping over it. I think they're own description or summary just didn't make it sound appealing. I'm glad I finally bought it because I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and the story was good. The narrator was one of the best I've heard in awhile. It was an all around good audible.

So Sweet

This book easily became one of my favorites because it was so sweet and simple. Sometimes simple is nice. What I really enjoyed about this book were the main characters. I enjoyed the fact that they came from different backgrounds, fell in-love and followed their hearts. I didn't realize I was such a softy for this kind of romance but I read this book twice in a row, and quickly.

Sweet enough, but too predictable and forced

I wanted to love this story, but the characters and dialogue felt too forced and rushed.

Emory is firmly painted as a womanizing charmer, but somehow fails to notice Sarah is attractive until way after meeting her. She deals with all of her problems by throwing herself into work, yet as soon as her relationship with Sarah is on the rocks, she inexplicably takes off for weeks of aimless vacation and soul-searching. I guess this is supposed to highlight how drastically her feelings for Sarah have turned her life around, but it ends up seeming just plain out-of-character in a lot of instances.

Even the revelations that her cold-unemotional mother apparently loved her to pieces in a warm-emotional way (albeit from afar) falls flat and comes off as a awkward plot mechanic to create internal drama for Emory.

Sarah’s dialogue isn’t helped by the narrators strange accent and slow speech she gives her, so the result is that a capable 30-something mother often sounds like a 5 year old that is naively fumbling her way through conversations with other adults.

Though I found quite a bit I didn’t like, there was also a lot of sweet and easy entertainment in general, that may suit other listeners to a tee. Not every novel needs to be ultra-realistic and surprising, so I would recommend it to somebody wanting a light-hearted, safe lesbian romance.

Such a good story!

The characters were relatable and likable. I laughed out loud and cried at a few points. The narration was also wonderful. Many times narration can take away from an otherwise compelling story, but this one added to it. I highly recommend this title in audible format.

I loved the story

The story itself was really good. there was a few moments the dialog was kinda cheesy but it made me smile so who doesn't like cheese.lol
the narration was great first time EVER there was a Hispanic leading role where the narration was able to portray the actual Acsent correctly. so that alone was amazing.
She dis have issues with the male characters.
I also wish the resolution happened a few chapters sooner so we could enjoy it more.
all in all it was a great book I loves it and will definitely recommend it to everyone.
