À propos de cet audio

The New York Times bestseller from Margaret George, author of Mary, Called Magdalene and Elizabeth I

With her amazing ability to summon the voices of historical characters, Margaret George tells the story of the woman whose face "launched a thousand ships" in Helen of Troy. Laden with doom, yet surprising in its moments of innocence and beauty, this is a beautifully told story of a legendary woman and her times. An exquisite page-turner with a cast of irresistible characters--Odysseus, Hector, Achilles, Priam, Clytemnestra, Agamemnon, as well as Helen and Paris themselves--and a wealth of material that reproduces the Age of Bronze in all its glory, Helen of Troy brings to life a war that we have all learned about but never before experienced.©2006 Margaret George; (P)2006 Penguin Audio, a member of Penguin Group (USA) Inc., and Books on Tape

I heard this compared to Circe. Not a chance! Circe was fascinating and incredible to listen to. This is endless hours of a story of a character not particularly interesting and honestly just selfish and surprisingly stupid for a demigod. I just don’t think I’m a fan of this author. I have tried reading two of her books now and thought I’d enjoy this one since I’m normally a big fan of mythology and historical fiction but this is so vapid.. It’s a gazillion hour book that could’ve been told better in half the time.. And probably should’ve been to avoid being so incredibly boring most of the time. Disappointed.

Just drags on and on..boring and main character is insufferable. Pass.

Great story and good accuracy, true to Homer. Wonderful voice acting. Just one question. Was Gelenore a made up character or are there accounts of his existence?

Beautiful
