Publisher's Summary

Anything can happen behind closed doors....

The gripping new novel from the author of bestseller The Next Girl. Her Final Hour will have you hooked!

Melissa Sanderson is the perfect wife and mother. She dotes on her daughter and lives in her dream home in a quiet cul-de-sac in the suburbs.

But looks can be deceiving.

Something is amiss in that house - all the neighbors think so. Some say Melissa is having an affair. Others say she’s been drinking too much.

Then one night, sirens wake up the whole neighborhood.

Melissa Sanderson is dead.

An absorbing thriller with an ending you won't see coming! If you like Lisa Gardner, Robert Bryndza, or Clare Mackintosh, you’ll love this absolutely heart-stopping thriller from Carla Kovach.

Would not recommend

I liked the first book but a few hours into this one I had to finally stop because the story line started reading more like a bad slasher movie: when you start thinking how dumb a person has to be to go into the woods in the middle of the night by herself to.....I would have liked more intelligence. Not sure that I now want to buy the third one just the series.

Thriller with interesting characters

I liked this book more than I thought I would. The detective (Gina) is tender with her own flaws. The storyline is interesting with some creepy characters.

A good page turner, but...

After recently reading the 1st book in the series as well, I'm hoping the 3rd in the series moves away from "the deranged and abusive man mentally and physically abuses and belittles the woman he claims to love, keeping her imprisoned" theme.

Two Very Enthusiastic Thumbs DOWN!

This was very predictable and there were no twists. If you like Lisa Gardner, you will be very disappointed with this book. If not for the narrator, I would have never made it to the end.

Hated to take breaks!

A multi faceted novel mixing the personal life of a detective, the search for a missing woman, as well as some of the story being told in the perspective of the kidnapper. An engaging listen

Talk about Stepford wives...

Wow! I found this much better than the first book in this series (which I did like.)

We’ve come to know Gina and her surrounding characters by now. Gina still needs to stop thinking she can do it all. I would have rated it a 5 except for all the characters introduced together. I was a bit confused at first but figured it out eventually. And I honestly didn’t guess who the murderer was. But what strange marriages these people have.

Good narration. I enjoyed this.

Ok

Gina is on another case, this time to solve the mysterious housewife murder of Melissa Sanderson.

The story was well structured, and kept me excited. I unfortunately did not like the ending. I felt that it was somewhat predictable and anticlimactic. There are however some interesting secrets that get unveiled during the story to keep you interested. I listened to this following The Next Girl, but i definitely prefer the first one to this one. The stories are not really connected so you can listen to this one without the first.
