Publisher's Summary

Before the demons invaded, Nathan had everything he ever wanted. Women, power, magical talent, wealth, a fortress full of loyal soldiers.

Now, a beautiful demonic general offers him a choice: Die; or start a new life with her in the past and rewrite history. Nathan accepts and is sent back in time to  before the end of the world.

Everything Nathan earned in his original life is gone, but he still has his years of knowledge and experience. Even better, he knows what will happen in the future. He doesn’t know why the demons sent him back, but he refuses to waste this opportunity. Nathan will take back everything he once had. But first, he must stop a demonic invasion from ending the world.

Heretic Spellblade contains plenty of violence, harem/undefined relationships, beast girls, and scenes that don’t fade to black. Consider yourself warned.

reincarnated but still the same age

The audio of this story is fantastically done!
I love the fact he is reincarnated and is smart enough to know he can’t make the choices for companions, even if he knows the future. Some points in the story I want to choke him and say just tell them what you know, but later you realize exactly why he doesn’t do it. I got sucked into the life of this bastion and his champions easily.
This harem fantasy is a great addition to any fantasy lovers collection and I will absolutely get the second addition to this storyline when it comes out.
Great job!

Actually has a story

Often times these types of books lack substance and instead focus on carnal fantasies. This one actually has a cool storyline, fight scenes and world building.

Highly Ilogical

tl;dr No internal consistency, characters make bad decisions even when informed, no work is put into justifying relationships. This is a hard pass.

Spoilers for Chapters 1 and 2 ahead:
My whole review could be on the first two chapters, but it is more useful to say, just skip them, I bet that would make the book better. Nothing logically follows, everything is wrong. Let me attempt to compress a recap. We spend a lot of time ignoring and then talking about a scouting report because "something about this report gives me a bad feeling", we eventually try to confirm the report using sensors... we still don't know anything beyond what I've mentioned. Sometime in Chapter 2, we find out that the report was about BILLIONS OF DEMONS coming out of a portal, and that when ever this sort of thing happens the sensors can be subverted, and that dealing with this sort of thing is the soul job of these people.... WAT! So you are telling me, that because this is your only job, and all the scouting report said was a confirmation of the very thing you are waiting for, but you put it off for no reason, and you already know that the sensors aren't going to work, but you fuss around with them for a long time seeing if the report can be confirmed... this actually makes no sense at all, it fails, we just started the book, and things are so very broken.

The next few chapters that I endured, were not worse, but were lack luster. Characters are just smashed together and passed off as developing relationships. The MC is supposed to be the best of the best, but we can already see that wasn't the case from Chapters 1 & 2. On top of that, sometimes in the dialog another character will just tell him they are going to do something that is either against him or doesn't benefit him. AND, the MC doesn't even respond, like, there is no dialog, like he just takes it and keeps talking like they never said anything. IT IS SURREAL!

What is going on here I cannot tell you, because I do not know. Just go read something else.

Underwhelming

I could barely pay attention to anything that was going on. Honestly this book reminds me of a few other series that the author dead mixed into one thing but extremely rushed. There’s a couple gift cards but it’s all the same nothing new.

I'm lost

I'll preface this with I didn't finish this book, I got about half through.

I have absolutely no idea of who knows what. Like the MC knows everything because it's an isekai (kind of) and then some other characters know things and others don't. It's very confusing. I honestly liked the side characters they all seemed to have different personalities. However the MC only seems to have two settings, "this is different from my past," and "I know everything." He gets old real fast.

Stephanie did a nice job narrating.

Excellent Story excellent narrator.

This was a great book and I am really looking forward to the sequel. I have to give kudos for the narrator who did a fantastic job. I’ll look for more books that she narrates.

Surprisingly good book

I have found books like this tend to be more male fantasy then story contact. This one proved to have a bit more plot and story than what I have found in this style of books. This has the potential of turning out to be a good series. But I must say it’s not there yet.

Better than expected

I honestly expected mediocre writing and plot structure.. but here's a surprising depth to the story and character development involved. Color me impressed :)

A hot mess.

I'd like to preface this by stating that i gave up on it fairly quickly listening to roughly third of it so there might be some chance of it turning better later on.

Major plot points and the progression of the story feels rather contrived most of the time.
This is very much a power fantasy, but the magic and fighting rules are lazily defined.
Girls are lusting for MC right from the start without just cause.

The whole thing to me feels like it's just smut with a lot of filler. The filler being story/characters/magic/crafting etc.

Pretty good

Overall the story was pretty good. the narrator took some getting used to. At first I really didn't think her voice was suited to this type of story at all. I got used to it after awhile though. she's not bad don't get me wrong, she just doesn't really fit this type of book. It was especially jarring coming from a book right before this narrated by Andrea Parsneau.

tasteful

it is quite an intriguing story with a tasteful amount of lewd scenes. I can't wait to get book 2.
