Publisher's Summary

The final installment in an exciting series from author Alyson McLayne, featuring fierce, loyal Scottish Highlanders and the beautiful lasses who steal their hearts.

No one ever accused Kerr Macalister of being a nice man. Everyone would agree, however, that when he makes up his mind about something, no one will change it. Which is why everyone knows Isobel MacKinnon will end up his wife.

Isobel spent most of her childhood in love with tall, dark, and deadly Kerr. It wasn't until she was 15 and failed to entice Kerr into kissing her that things turned sour. Now, Kerr is the one trying to entice her. But Isobel knows how to hold a grudge and won't be swayed unless he proves his love. So she tricks him into believing she's eloping with another man. Kerr responds by kidnapping her to a remote cabin in the Highlands where both love and danger lurk....

Summary

I really enjoyed this series and the connection the foster brothers had with each other. However I wished the story had more depth into the pain they endured from an early age. I wish the story started with Kerr killing his father and how his life unraveled after and I also wished the wives got to come together in the end and formed some sought of women empowered group just like their husband's were known as the protectors of the highlands.
The author did really place the women in somewhat equal roles as their husband's but I just feel their was more of a brotherhood and togetherness with the men that were not there for the women, even though they were considered to be unusual women.
The story also didn't really seem like it ended and I wished that for the end story we got to see Isobel pregnant or kerr's children grown and training with him and his foster brothers.
