À propos de cet audio
She was a sensible woman, he was a man who could drive a woman senseless with desire...
Gareth Fitzallen is celebrated for four things: his handsome face, his notable charm, his aristocratic connections, and an ability to give the kind of pleasure that has women begging for more. Normally he bestows his talents on experienced, worldly women. But when he heads to Langdon's End to restore a property he inherited - and to investigate a massive art theft - he lays plans to seduce a most unlikely lady.
Eva Russell lives a spinster's life of precarious finances and limited dreams while clinging to her family's old gentry status. She supports herself by copying paintings while she plots to marry her lovely sister to a well-established man. Everyone warns her of Gareth's reputation, advising her to lock her sister away. Only it is not her sister Gareth desires. One look and she knows he is trouble. One kiss, however, proves she is no match for this master of seduction.

I always enjoy Mary Jane Wells as a reader—she is excellent at distinguishing between characters with her voice and accents, and she did not disappoint here.
This is another rogue-cum-vulnerable boy story, which I love! It’s quite satisfying when the once uncertain heroine turns the tables on our hero and he hardly knows what’s happened to him as he finds himself falling hard.
The story felt well-balanced to me. It did not go off on tangents about other characters and storylines (though there was a bit about other things—we did have a mystery to dig into, after all), that would’ve left me feeling impatient to get back to the main story. I felt like the author had a good sense of timing in that respect.
I only wish the word “bastard” wasn’t used so much to describe Gareth—even if he was often the one saying it —because there was never a resolution to it; it just was. We can hope that later on Eva breaks him of his habit of saying it because it can’t benefit him in any way.
Great story and characters. I highly recommend!
One of my favourite regency romances
