The third time's a charm apparently because as my fiancée and I walked into an appointment to meet the woman hired to plan our nuptials—there she was again.

Obviously, I did what any smart man would do—I called off the wedding. I don't have a plan per se, other than winning back the only girl I've ever loved.

As a future hall of famer and one of the best centers hockey has ever seen, I know a thing or two about winning. But convincing Lennox Kennedy to give this hockey boy another chance might just be the challenge of a lifetime and this game I'm playing may turn out to be nothing but a pucking disaster.

This is a real mixed bag. One minute I'm wowed and the next minute I'm prepared to shelve and not finish.
Cons: 1. Book drags for a bit at the point I realized there was 5 plus hours left to go so I was a bit worried. Thankfully the book changes pace presenting some laugh out loud moments that were appreciated. 2. About 1/3 into the book the heroine character development becomes inconsistent and certain points are too illogical to seem realistic. This was rather distracting. 3. There is fantasy sexual assault of sorts that was cringe. I skipped ahead because the text was too much.
Pros: 1. Dialogue was smooth and well written. 2. Comedic aspects are well written. I found myself laughing out loud about five times. 3. Character development of children is excellent. 4. Appropriate presentation of depression and certain relational dynamics. 5. The ending was spot on. ....especially the gifts Lennox gives Aiden. 6. Narration was great.
Aside: This book is a stand alone but it is written in a way that ties in the stories of other characters. Although the tie ins are well written, at times, they were a bit distracting. However, if I had read / listened to the author's other books, I'm sure I would have appreciated them more.
