Story
I was totally over Joshua Parkerson. Sure, I had a teenage crush on him way back when - and everyone knew it - but he never saw me as anything but his little brother's friend, the girl who got tongue-tied any time he walked into a room. I had long ago accepted the fact that his strong arms would never hold me, his lush lips would never claim mine, and his blue eyes would never see me as anything more than who I used to be.

Story
I am in the most inconvenient marriage of convenience ever. What started out as two friends who wanted to make their military lives easier turned into a mess. Why? Because I stupidly fell in love with my husband. In an attempt to remedy my mistake, I severed all ties and put my life as a combat medic and Emmett Maxwell behind me. I’ve lost too many people to open myself up to love. Now I’m working as a private investigator, and fate has stepped in, forcing our paths to intersect again when I’m looking into the disappearance of a missing girl with ties to Emmett’s hometown.

Story
I fell in love with Sydney Hastings when I was 10 years old. At 16, we whispered promises of forever. When I was 22, I broke them all. I left her and promised never to return. After my father's death, I’m forced to go home to Sugarloaf for six months. She'll be everywhere, no longer just in my memories and regrets. When we’re together, it’s as though time never stopped. She’s still the one I want, but I don’t deserve her. Instead of apologizing, I take that beautiful, broken woman in my arms. But after that, it’s her turn to leave me. Now I have to fight. For her. For us.

There's no way I'll fall for Wyatt Hennington. He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I'm not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.

I spent 20 years waiting for Trent Hennington to open his eyes and see me. But it was all for nothing. He chose to keep himself guarded and let me walk away, proving that my time and efforts were wasted. I'm done being invisible. It's time to move on. A single dance sets my new reality into motion, and I welcome it. After all, Cooper Townsend is perfect. He's kind, sexy, and attentive - everything a girl could want.

Fifteen years ago, I fell for Jack O’Donnell. I was just a girl, but I knew my brother’s best friend was the only man I’d ever love. On my 18th birthday, when I asked him to kiss me, I never imagined it would change my life so completely. I gave Jack everything that night. In order to move on, we had to go our separate ways and pretend like nothing happened...as though it wasn’t the greatest moment of my life. But even that wasn’t as heartbreaking as the secret we were forced to keep.

Hollywood taught me everything I know about relationships - except how to be in one. As an actor, I became an expert at faking it. Faking that I wasn't affected by my childhood. Faking that I was okay. Faking that I knew how to save the day, the girl, the whole damn world. But I've always known the truth - I’m no one's hero. Until I’m forced to move back to Sugarloaf for six months, and Brenna Allen offers me a chance to prove otherwise. She’s everything I never knew I wanted, but can't have. Her broken heart, perfect face, and adorable children turn my world upside down.

My life was perfect - until a shocking tragedy pulled the rug out from underneath me. My children were left without a father. I was without a husband and a provider. Instead of wallowing in my grief, I buried myself in my work at Dovetail Enterprises. Landing the promotion as the CEO’s right hand was exactly what I needed. Getting saddled with Milo Huxley as an assistant is exactly the opposite. I can’t stand him. He’s arrogant, irresponsible, and out for my job. As if that’s not bad enough, he has to be devastatingly sexy, and have a posh English accent that makes me squirm on top of it all.

Publisher's Summary
From New York Times best seller Corinne Michaels and USA Today best seller Melanie Harlow comes a second chance stand-alone romance novel.
Ian Chase broke my heart at 17, and I’ve spent the last 18 years hating him for it. He makes it easy, with his smart mouth and playboy lifestyle - which I unfortunately have to observe since he lives behind me. Every time I see him climbing out of his pool, practically naked and unreasonably sexy, my blood boils.
I’ve always loved to loathe him. I never planned to need him.
London Parish is my little sister’s best friend, not that it stopped me from falling for her. Our history is complicated. The only thing we have in common is being godparents to my sister’s three adorable kids - until our lives are changed in one tragic moment. Now we’re trying to raise the children we love, mourn an unthinkable loss, and fight an undeniable attraction.
My life is already upside down, and the last thing I need is for old feelings to resurface. Because I’ll never be able to keep her, no matter how hard I try to hold her close.

Second chance at happiness
I am a huge Melanie Harlow fan and when I heard she was teaming up with Corinne Michaels for this book, I was excited, but even more so when the narrators chosen were Andi Arndt and Tor Thom! This is a beautiful, heart wrenching, frustrating, passionate, happy second chance romance. Ian and London finally got together for London's senior prom, declaring their love for each other, only to have it torn to shreds the next day. After years of anger and animosity, the two are brought back together under the worst of circumstances. Ian's sister, London's best friend dies unexpectedly and her three children are now in the care of Ian. He desperately needs help, and who better qualified than London. The kids know her well, and it will help with the transition. Michaels and Harlow masterfully piece together this romance with these two, each having their own issues to work through. With grief, and the responsibility of 3 children, this couple takes all their anger and frustration on each other, with a combustible chemistry underlying every dig. I love the true to life relationship these two have. Ian is so much the macho, alpha, he will take care of everything, he knows what is best until he doesn't. London is vulnerable and insecure in herself when it comes to men, but with the children she is spot on. Their push-pull relationship is so easily relatable, and their banter perfect. The combination is mesmorizing, keeping me focused for 7 hours of this book, wondering how things will progress and if it will work out. I do think there are a couple of breakout characters as well, the three children are amazing, but my favorite is Ian's sister Sabrina. She is a no hold barred woman, telling things as she sees them and is accurate with every sentence. I loved her! This author team melds their novel together seamlessly and I am hoping to see more from this combination.
Add to this incredible book, two incredible narrators. The team of Tor Thom and Andi Arndt brought magic to this story. A better Ian could not have been chose, Tor Thom gives Ian just enough confidence to make him that strong alpha, yet that hint of insecurity and vulnerability when it comes to the kids. I loved his inflections and ability to give off the emotions that Ian was feeling. Andi Arndt is always amazing, but I really loved her portrayal of London. She had London's animosity towards Ian down to pat, yet you could still feel the love she had for him. Together this team made me sad, happy, angry and full of love, a wonderfully satisfying listen.

"Old and Finding Love"
I found the line "Old and Finding Love" fitting from this book. I love second chance romance books. The writing combination of Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels is spectacular. They wove the most amazing story. This book has so many emotions in it from grief, regret, sorrow, longing, happiness, ecstasy, love, anger, hope, peace, humor and fulfillment. Ian, London, Sabrina are the main characters in this book, while Morgan, Christopher and Ruby play huge parts. Two very independent people are suddenly brought together as co-parents of 3 children after disaster strikes. Ian and London face the challenge of resurrecting their relationship, healing old wounds, and fighting chemistry and feelings. I loved Sabrina's wisdom in this book. Like in real life, Ian thought he knew what was best for London, instead of letting her make decisions for herself.
Andi Arndt and Tor Thom nailed their performance in this book. They added so much to the book with their raw emotions. I loved the chemistry they had. Both are equally great narrators, and together they are exceptional. I hope to listen to more books by this winning combination. This is such a great book! The epilogue was perfect.

Wanted to love it, but the hero was terrible
I am a huge fan of both Melanie Harlow and Corinne Michaels. I have read/listened to many of their individual books and loved them. Perhaps that set my expectations too high, because this book was a big miss for me. The narration by Andi Arndt and Tor Thom is the only thing that kept me going. Both did superb jobs voicing both male and female characters and I especially enjoyed Andi Arndt's performance as London. She delivered London's barbs and taunts to Ian perfectly, but also showed such emotion and vulnerability during the more difficult scenes.
Honestly, my biggest problem with the book was Ian. I kept waiting and hoping that he would be redeemed, but sadly it never really happened. He was incredibly frustrating and acted like a huge jerk for the majority of the book. Throw in the fact that he's completely an unapologetic manwhore and I was pretty much done. We're supposed to feel sympathy for him because he sacrificed his happiness and broke his own heart so that London could follow her dreams, but all I felt for him was rage and annoyance. He lived his life, enjoying it to the fullest, even married (and divorced), but you want me to believe that he did all that and treated her so poorly over the years because of his love for her? That if he couldn't have her the way he wanted, then hate was the only solution? Come on.
All the back and forth got old quick and for people who are in their mid to late 30's, they were often very immature. I wish I could say that I loved London, but sadly her willingness to be a doormat and accept any scraps of affection Ian threw her way made me lose a lot of respect for her. Every time it seemed like she was going to grow a spine or when she actually stood up to Ian, the very next scene would have her saying sorry, forgiving him, or enabling his selfish behavior. On top of all this, of course she was also essentially celibate for the 17-18 YEARS her and Ian were separated. The only time her sexual history comes up is when Ian is making a crude comment or joke about it (or rather the lack of it).
The best part of the book was probably Chris, Morgan, and Ruby, even though the circumstances that brought them together as a family was tragic. The epilogue was sweet, but overall the ending felt rushed and forced. The impromptu detour was very cliche for a story set in Vegas and had me rolling my eyes (again) at Ian's complete 180. Unfortunately, it was all just too little, too late for this second chance/enemies to lovers romance.

What a fantastic story
Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow have hit this one out of the park. I absolutely loved Hold you Close. The range of emotion felt was unbelievable. I laughed, I cried, I laughed so hard I cried. At one point my kids asked me what was going on because I cried for nearly thirty miles straight in the car, but laughed through out it. (Yes - I listen with earbuds so they are left in the dark).
Nothing is worse than losing a loved one. Except maybe having to take care of their children with the one person on the planet that is easier to hate than love. This is the case for Ian and London. He was her best friends older brother, she was the one he forced away. They both have the kids best interests in mind, but will they be able to live with the circumstances?
This book is beautifully written. It has memorable characters and develops a world I never wanted to leave. Tor Them and Andi Arndt are phenomenal with their performance in the book, only bring this magnificent world to life. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. You are missing out if you don't read it.

Perfect narration, few questions left on the story
These two authors sure created vastly different opposing characters. I mean, the way Ian is portrayed is a serious playboy of like, epic proportions with at least one new playmate nightly, sometimes more than one! London is portrayed as a stuffy cat lady with no life but the career she worked so hard for. I mean, they are on different planets! The things London thinks I. Her head is pure gold. She makes me laugh whole-heartedly.
Oh the feelings “feelings” in this book! Sigh! Once we opened up and got a little lust out of the way... I just swooned here, swooned there, everywhere a swoon swoon! I think I was a bit surprised that none of the kids had problems with London flying... like some freak out episode. I guess after how everything went down, I expected there to be issues or flying fears. I was a bit shocked that none arose.
I adore these authors separately but together they are magical. I’ll be honest though, I wish this book had more details. I feel like the kids didn’t get s big enough roll and that Ruby’s issue in the beginning could have been played a bit better. I guess I was a bit bummed in the response to the main problem in the story. I also felt there was a few loose ends at the ending. I wondered what happened with London’s job... what happened with Ian’s.
These narrators, Tor Thom and Andi Arndt can do no wrong! Seriously, I love their narration. It's the first time I've heard these two narrators together, but man, did they work!

A Pathetic Heroine is a NO for me
The so-called heroine, London, is pathetic. She is the lonely sexless cat lady next door because she can’t get over her first time love when she was 18. Ian is the sex crazed guy next door who lives a crazy life and London’s best friend’s big brother and her first time love. They’re still in love and fight like cats and dogs. Oh the cliches are endless.
I usually love Corrine’s stories but this one had no depth. The heroine had no backbone and the hero is an ass. London actually moons over Ian’s underwear and is so distracted over thoughts of him at work that she spaces out in front of her boss, who is also a chauvinist pig. Real women don’t do that!
Ian does something nice in the cruelest way. You can forgive it when he was 19/20 but doing it again 10 years later in the exact same manner, nope.
Narration was good. Andi is always amazing and Thor is new and good.
The end is the sappy HEA that you see coming a mile away but it doesn’t makeup for the rest of the story.

Loved it
I realised i am going to love anything narrated by Tor Thom and Hold You Close by Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow was no exception. Tor did an incredible job portraying Ian and Andi Arndt nailed London.
This second chance novel will evoke a range of emotions from you and these two main characters will frustrate you at times. However Tor and Andi was able to deliver on portraying these two frustrating characters and made you love them in the end. I would definitely recommend this story.

A unseen sacrifice
A love so strong that you sacrifice yourself for the special someone. Sometimes you need to take the long road to get where you are supposed to be. What a lovely and tragic love story. Andi Arndt and Thor Tom was amazing as always love there work and it was wonderful to hear them together. Much love and a must listen.
