Publisher's Summary

Kennedy Ryan presents book three in the Hoops series.

A deeply emotional, standalone romance set in the worlds of professional basketball and high fashion.

Divorced. Single dad. Traded to a losing squad.

Cheated on, betrayed, exposed. My perfect life blew up in my face, and I'm still picking up the pieces. The last thing I need is her.

A wildflower. A storm. A woman I can't resist.

Lotus DuPree is a kick to my gut and a wrench in my plans from the moment our eyes meet. I promised myself I wouldn't trust a woman again, but I've never wanted anyone the way I want Lo. She's not the plan I made, but she's the risk I have to take.

A warrior. A baller. The one they call Gladiator.

Kenan Ross charged into my life smelling all good, looking even better, and snatching my breath from the moment we met. The last thing I need is him. I’m working on me. Facing my pain and conquering my demons. I've seen what trusting a man gets you.

I. Don't. Have. Time. For. This.

But he just keeps coming for me. Keeps knocking down my defenses and stealing my excuses one by one. He never gives up, and now...I'm not sure I want him to.

Hook Shot

I have read a couple of Kennedy Ryan's books, and the Grip series has been my favorite so far, and it still is my favorite. However, I had a few friends tell me that I needed to read Hook Shot, and I'm glad I did. As one reader said, it was sublime. I loved the transparency between Kenan and Lotus. It was beautiful the way they decided to be vulnerable with each other. Actually, I loved everything about this couple. The love notes with verses from the Song of Solomon was FIRE! The scene with -- Oh, I can't tell you the scene because it would be a spoiler, but I will say it made me go and read Psalm 35.

I enjoyed the book so much that I wish they were real and that they were my friends. I'm sure the narrators made me feel this way. Speaking of the narration, it was excellent! As I write this, there is more I want to say, so I will. LOL. The visual I had of the gallery scene is one I could go on and on about. The narrators definitely capture the intensity between Kenan and Chase. The hospital scene, the scenes at Lotus's grandmother's house, and the scene where Lotus had to make an important decision about her and Kenan's relationship were also times I felt the narrators were able to place me in the mind of the characters and allow me to feel their emotions.

Awemazing

This was truly an amazing read and probably my favorite from the entire series...Keenan and Lotus were made for each other... Sometimes you just know from the first sight of a person that they are your perfect fit and I know Keenan knew from the first moment he laid eyes on Lotus... This book dealt with some tough issues that are faced when dealing with so many different aspects of relationships and I’m glad ave wasn’t one of the added issues... I loved this book definitely five star and I can’t wait for what’s next

All the feels!

I first got introduced to Kennedy Ryan through her RITA nominated LONG SHOT (which is amazeballs), and have since blown through the entire series. I have fallen hard for these deeply emotional men and women. HOOK SHOT is a much...quieter sort of story than LONG SHOT (only a therapeutic box of Godiva required instead of an 18 wheeler's worth), and it is the most traditional romance of the lot. Kenan is an old school kinda hero who loves jazz and doesn't particularly like to people (so basically he's my soulmate), and it is a delight to see him earn his way behind the tough shell of Lotus Dupree. As usual, Ryan deals with difficult topics (in this case childhood sexual abuse) with sensitivity and grace, all wrapped up in a package of positively gorgeous prose. Two thumbs up and a hearty recommendation.

What a series!!

This entire series of books is so rich and beautiful. I was waiting for Lotus’s story and it did not disappoint. As mentioned by another reviewer, there are so many themes touched on in this saga and each of them are detailed wonderfully. Worth every penny I paid for this. This is a true love story. Narrators were fantastic.

Kennedy Ryan continues to blow my mind with each new book in this series! She continues to deliver emotional, thought provoking storylines that keep you sitting on pins and needles awaiting the next book! Although August and Iris are still my favorite, Kenan and Lotus did not disappoint! There were so many real-life issues touched upon (fidelity, belief systems, truth, suicide ,etc) that allows everyone to identify with something. Jakobi Diem was excellent as the male narrator and Mia Ellis did a wonderful job too! I am never disappointed with Kennedy Ryan!
