Publisher's Summary

"It took hitting rock bottom for me to realize that if I wanted something better for my girls, I had to learn to love myself first."

Leah was first thrust under the reality television microscope when her teen pregnancy was documented on MTV's groundbreaking series 16 and Pregnant. Since then, fans of Teen Mom 2 have watched her life play out on the small screen - from her struggle to rise to the challenges of motherhood, through her harrowing journey to find a diagnosis for one of her twin girls with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, and the collapse of two marriages. She has learned to live under the harsh glare of media scrutiny, yet there is a truth behind the reality that the cameras have never revealed.

In her unflinching and honest memoir, Leah takes listeners behind the scenes and shares an intimate, often heartbreaking, portrait of her turbulent childhood in rural West Virginia, the rock bottom that forced her to reevaluate her life, and her triumphant break from toxic relationships and self-destructive cycles to live her life with hope, grace, and faith.

She explains her truth

Been following Leah’s journey from the beginning and I must admit there were times that I was confused as to her actions. Leah filled in a lot of information that made so much sense and then I understood why. She has gained so much insight and understanding and I think she now feels worthy. She also is making her girls her main priority and they will thrive under her guidance.

Left me wanting more of Leahs voice and story

While Leah isn’t the best narrator she certainly improved over the course of the book. I loved learning more about her upbringing, her medical complications leading to her addiction and her journey to self love and acceptance. Her voice really shined through and I found myself laughing out loud at her quips and thinking about how she seems like she would be fun to hang out with. I admire how she didn’t shy away from admitting her mistakes and took full responsibility for her actions which many people never do. I do think that her editor should have done a more thorough job of polishing her Leah’s writing, fixing the sequencing of events, repetition and grammar. My biggest complaint is that I really wanted more! There were so many topics and areas that I wanted to hear more about, 3 hours just isn’t enough to fully cover everything a memoir should. I guess I just have to hope she writes another book.

Wow! How proud I am of her finding herself and knowing her worth

This book is so encouraging to me. I am presently in a very similar situation with the anxiety and addiction and being a single mom. I can’t tell you how much this book has made me step back and realize that I am worth it. I don’t have to please everyone and not everyone has to like me. I am deciding today that I will no longer be a doormat and that my voice will be heard and I will continue to strive until I am living my best life. Thank you Lhea you are someone who I admire not just because you overcame your struggles but you did it for your girls and they will always look at you and see what a strong person you are. Good luck lots of love 😘

Gripping and inspiring.

I am a blind single mom of two young boys and in some ways I could relate to this book. She talks about how she wasn’t able to say no or didn’t think that she could and then landed in some of the situations she’s had to go through. I to later on in life realized that I have to put myself first as well so that I can be the best that I can be for my kids. I’m so grateful that she was the one to read her own book I think it makes you feel closer to the author when they are the one narrating their story. I love the book! I have been wondering for years how her life away from the cameras has been or was like. Because I am blind I was patiently waiting and wondering when this book would be released on audio. I’m so glad that it finally is out here for those of us to listen to. It’s amazing how someone could go through so much as a child and how she overcame it. I’m so grateful for her and that she is telling her story so that people in her situation can know that there is light at the other end of the tunnel. I’m so grateful that she is finally happy she’s living her best life. I highly recommend this book.

really liked it

I really liked this book but I feel like it was too short. I've been following Leah and a lot of the other teen moms since 16 and pregnant and I feel like she could have went into more things and more details but overall I like how she did explain some stuff that we didn't know outside of the show. I hope now that she's on the right track that she will find the right guy and can have her happy ending. 😊

Great Book!

This book was really good. It made me see Leah differently, and realize that she is not exactly who she is made out to be on TV. I don't agree with all of her decisions, but she was brave enough to share her story with the world, and that is admirable! I hope she writes another book, because I will definitely buy it!
