Publisher's Summary

The 10th book in the best-selling Chronicles of St Mary's series, which follows a group of tea-soaked disaster magnets as they hurtle their way around History. If you love Jasper Fforde or Ben Aaronovitch, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.

You can't change History. History doesn't like it. There are always consequences.

Max is no stranger to taking matters into her own hands. Especially when she's had A Brilliant Idea. Yes, it will mean breaking a few rules, but - as Max always says - they're not her rules. Seconded to the Time Police to join in the hunt for the renegade Clive Ronan, Max is a long way from St Mary's. But life in the future does have its plus points - although not for long.

A problem with the Time Map reveals chaos in the 16th century and the wrong Tudor queen on the throne. History has gone rogue, there's a St Mary's team right in the firing line and Max must step up.

You know what they say. Hope for the best. But plan for the worst.

Great book slightly stereotypical villain

Love this whole series and the detail with which Jodi Taylor approaches them. This book is no exception but for the slightly stereotypical black and arabic villains which I somehow found disappointing in an otherwise creative and unique universe. That bit felt like a bad TV cop show. The series doesn't usually talk about race but this one made me feel like perhaps it needs some variety in its discussion of it.I loved the Kingdom of kush however.

Max sets in motion a plan to capture Ronin

I love these books. They are a joy to experience. This was no exception to that statement. A bit more upbeat than the last book, it still packs an emotional punch. There are schemes, more schemes inside of those, double crosses, and tea. (and a giant tea pot) All mixed in with Max's trademark wit and style. As always, my biggest complaint is that the fun was over too soon. Already waiting on the next volume, long may they run. I strongly recommend this book. However, you would be best served by reading them in order to get the best appreciation the story.

Well done installment in the saga of St Mary’s

Best enjoyed if you’ve followed the series from the beginning. If you haven’t, you’ll get an idea of what the series is about. Maxwell obtains Dr Bairstow‘s approval for a secret, convoluted plan to capture Ronin with the assistance of the head of the Time Police. Cue the expected twists and surprising results. And humor. Loved the scream and drop. Ramm does a great job of narration. She has the right voice for this book and series.

ZARA RAMM!!!!

I really don't know what is the best regarding this series. Is it Zara Ramm's narration or the story? It's both but Zara breathes life into the stories!! This one was one of my favorites! I was clapping my hands as if I were at the movies when it ended!!!

Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Bairstow Save St. Mary's--AGAI

I love these books and the audible version makes it terrific. Zara Ramm is Maxwell and she makes the characters ‘jump’ to life. This is a very clever series with time travel (never use the term at St. Mary’s) taking the characters back and forth along the time line while chasing bad guys. Sometimes the Time Police, the monitors of protecting the timeline, get carried away with their own self worth but Maxwell and Dr. Baristow put them in their place. This book is told by Maxwell while she has concocted a scheme to catch Rowan once and for all. She and Leon have different assignments to protect their son and to capture the criminal, Rowan. There is a pod that looks like a tea pot and two teenagers involved. It is a good Book 10 and I loved it BUT I’m ready for the next adventure in Book 11. Get the audible and the kindle versions so you can go back and forth. The narrator, Zara Ramm, is terrific.

I don't know how she does it but Jodi Taylor has done it again. Phenomenal story...what a ride! Perfect narration, yet again, by Zara Ramm...flawless.

Each is better than the last!

Absolutely incredible. Intelligent and nail biting right up to the end! Zara Ramm's spectacular reading of Jodi Taylor's fantastic stories are a thing to behold. Every word is gripping. Every character well developed yet allowed to grow. Perfection. Just perfection.
