When Emma moves to Astoria, Oregon, she is given two rules: #1 - don’t cross to “their” side of the street. #2 - don’t mess with the elites, especially Lexen Darken, top elite and resident bad boy. While she finds this both weird and insulting, Emma has no actual intention of breaking these rules - until her guardians go missing. Now all bets are off. Story
Avalon has always felt different and alone. The ocean, along with the friends she’s made under the water, is the only constant in her life. Then Xander comes for her, reluctantly, judging by his snarly attitude. But, attitude aside, he draws her into a fantasy world, one filled with family and friendship and...the home she’s always craved. He gives her the smallest glimpse of perfection, only to then inform her that it’s not a world she can have. Political issues in Royale will make her time there temporary.

Story
Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world. Firstly...supernaturals exist. WTF? Secondly...she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind. Double WTF. Thirdly...she’s about to go back to school. Well, things just got a little more interesting. The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.

Story
Maddison James learned a lot about life last year. Only important stuff, of course. Like how to breathe under water, how to turn an arrow into a weapon, and how to fall in love. Asher Locke. The one who stole her heart. The one who showed her the truth of her past and...hopefully her future. Now, it's just time for them to live happily ever after. Only the gods have different plans. And with Atlantis rising, Maddi isn't sure she'll survive long enough to even finish her second year, let alone have any sort of future.

Story
They rule my new town, my school, and with more money than God, there’s very little out of their reach. Four gorgeous, perfect, scary boys. There used to be five, but one of them died, leaving a fifth position that I now fill. I didn't ask for this. I didn't want to be part of this billionaire-boys-club. But no one cares about what I want. Sebastian Beckett is the worst of them. Their leader. He draws me in, and strips me of every defense I have. He calls me Butterfly, but it's not a pet name, it's a threat.

Willa Knight: Dead? Alive? Damned to a state of eternal bad luck? Willa and the Abcurse brothers are back, and more determined than ever to stick by each other. Unfortunately, Staviti has other plans, plans that threaten to change the natural order of the worlds—though nobody really understands why. His agenda may very well affect all beings on Minatsol, even those that thought themselves safe in Topia. Even Willa-invincible-Knight. Unsure with her new place in the worlds, Willa must follow the Abcurses to their new post: Champions Peak, a secluded mountain far from civilization, where the most powerful sols have been summoned to hone their abilities through direct contact with the gods. There is a chance that she might survive her time on the mountain, but it seems like staying alive amidst the powerful occupants of the Peak is the least of her concerns. Her real problem is staying on the mountain at all.

Story
Willa has never been a particularly useful dweller: she isn’t very good at chores, she isn’t very good at worshiping, she isn’t very good at not having opinions, and she isn’t very good with rules - but none of that matters anymore. The rules are changing. The dwellers are trying to make their own way in the world, and Willa can’t seem to help getting tangled up in their plans. Luckily, she has the Abcurse brothers to help her out - until she doesn’t, and suddenly she’s alone again in a world on the brink of chaos.

Publisher's Summary
Callie has spent her life moving towns every four months in a bid to stay off the grid. Her only family is a paranoid mother who believes there's a race of supernatural beings out there actively searching for Callie. A race who could destroy Earth if they get their hands on her. Callie's never seen one thing to suggest there's any truth to her mom's insane ramblings, and at the age of 18 now, she's grown numb to her reality; she's never going to have a normal life.
That is, until they move to New Orleans. The moment Callie steps foot into the Quarter, hears the jazz music, feels the soul of the city, the cold shell she's built to protect herself starts to thaw.
Then they come for her.
Turns out her mom's stories are quite real, and whatever happens, Callie's empty world will never be the same again.

Great story
You won’t be disappointed. It’s annoying when the villain finds ways to over throw the good people but they find ways to overcome them. It was sad one part when the author kills off a character I loved. In which I believe was not fair nor cool. But overall the story plot was very intriguing and keeps you on edge. I recommend.

Great Story!
At this point in time I have read almost all of Jaymin Eve's books and I have NEVER been disappointed! Her story telling is spot on and pulls the reader in from the first chapter. Vanessa Moyen's narration is always fantastic as well! She has a very distinctive voice and I love listening to her bring characters to life! House of Imperial is the second book in the Secret Keepers series and should be read as such. I found this one a little more action packed than the first and without giving away any spoilers, I will say you may want a tissue handy once or twice! Excellent writing, excellent narration, and I can't wait to listen to the next in the series!!!

It's okay
The second book in the series is good, but the first book is better. This book despite being a continuation of the story, is focused on the House of Imperial and the conflicts of the central characters.
It's good to read the book to keep up with how the story will unfold, but it's not the kind of book I would recommend as a reading option.
I really hope the third book will be better.

Hilarious and awesome!
I love the story line and progression from HOUSE OF DARKEN. The world building was vivid and character development was interesting and complex. You feel like you know these people. Either you are them or you know someone who is. The main characters are cheeky and sarcastic but also sympathetic and strong. The dialog is fantastic and hilarious! The inner monologues are spot on! I absolutely loved the narration on this book! She does a wonderful job of giving just the right amount of sass to the banter between characters. I highly recommend this book if you like to laugh and get pissed off at the same time all within the sci-fi genre.
