Wish I would've bought the paper book

Narrator is good and the content is good. However, he often references images in the book that I really wish I could see. This is my first audible book, so maybe I'm missing some way to view these (description also says it comes with a PDF guide, but I don't see it anywhere), I would definitely get the paper book though .

don't judge a book by its cover - this is a gem

This book had more information for the length of time than most self-help books out there.

Essential Reading for Students (and professionals)

I'm not a student, but I wish this book was around when I was.
Cal's arguments are composed, lean, and riveting.
The Case Studies and variety of specific examples make this text stand out.

I'm an executive who always needs to write and study, and I found a plethora of applicable steps.

Not really a college book

This is more of a book for grades 7-10, not really college level. None of the material is special or unique. The narrator is annoying and seems to shout at you at times. I really don't understand the popularity of this book at all, perhaps it is good for struggling students.

has good points but lacking for STEM students

I liked the way he structures the way you should study and even though a lot of what he says is common sense, he offers practical and original ways to put it to use. my only complaint is that it seems that the book is made for students which are coursing humanistic careers. technical careers take a second place.

Very Very Realistic

As a current Sophmore at UW-Madison, I can attest to the struggles and frustrations of the university srudent this book tries to address. I can definitely say that it was worth the read. However, being an engineering student, the second half of this book wasn't as applicable. He goes in depth with paper writing, but you bet I'll be using these strategies for the few papers I do write. The most helpful information this book gave was on the topics of simple realistic time management, studying readings/problem sets, and exam preparation.

All the while the author was very engaging and kept me listening. I am surprised how well it has stood the test of time, as it is still applicable to higher education today.

The one "gripe" I have would be on the topic of how to take notes. He swore by taking notes on a laptop, but I think this truly depends buy a tablet may be a powerful comprimiae. I use a few different notetakjng techniques. Plain paper and clipboard, rocketbook, graph legal pad, and an Onyx BOOX Note Pro.

Useful ideas to help all students

Regardless of whether you are a late starter to college or coming from high school, the ideas are useful and lend to practicality. I used to be a crammed in college, and was the one with the bleary eyes the day after the exams. This book helps by providing thought provoking ideas that can help get past and away from the cramming. That alone can help make the college experience that much more rewarding.
