The story is good, but it is a pity they do not invest in paying a full cast of voice actors, to make the story more appealing. It is odd to have the very same person do all the voices and characters. Some voices are caricatures to make them very different and recognizable. Neil Kaplan is great, but not for all the voices.

I have loved being swallowed up into this story rooting for Lorien and the ones who fight to free it, Sam and Six are my favorites always enjoyed the underdogs and strong female heroines

My family and I listened to the first half of this recording on a 7 hour drive recently, and neither of my usually phone-obsessed daughter’s even touched their phones! My husband, myself, and my 13 and 11 year olds were all thoroughly entertained by the story. We occasionally laughed at some of the voices in the recording, but overall it was great!

The various people’s voices that the narrator does are horrible and detract from the book. His read/impression of Henri and Sarah are so bad.

Worst read of a book

Lovely bit of sci-fi I listened to with my daughter. Compelling and keeps ones attention. A bit mature for tweens, as it’s graphically violent at times. Narration was very good over all.

Story lacks diversity in any way. Female characters are scant and barely more than props. Very much a white boy adventure story which has been done to death.

However, sequel looks promising.

One of my favourite books. I've read it twice. The audio book is missing chapters, and has repeat chapters in place of the missing ones. If you haven't read this book, do not get the audio book.
