Publisher's Summary

Best known to the world as the actor who created the legendary Mr. Spock in the cult television series that launched the Star Trek phenomenon, Leonard Nimoy has written the definitive Star Trek memoir. In this long-awaited autobiography, Nimoy opens up to his fans in ways the Vulcan never could.

Having played the pivotal role of Mr. Spock in the original series, in six motion pictures, and in a special two-part episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as having directed two of the movies, Nimoy is well suited to tell the true story behind what was seen by the public. He provides an intelligent and insightful book about the creative process and the actor's craft - and gives his own unique insider's view of the creation of both the character, Mr. Spock, and the Star Trek phenomenon.

Spock and Nimoy reflect

What a fabulous little book! My only complaint is that it was too short. Well, actually, it didn't leave me wanting, I just didn't want it to end. Great narration from Nimoy. My favourite parts were the conversations he had with Spock in his head. It really was a partnership. A must listen for all Trekkies. LLAP

A great and lovely view of an iconic character and an iconic actor from both and one

A candid and honest tale of friendship and the path of an actor to encounter his most iconic and renown character, and how they melt into a one being and, at the same time, both keep their individuality: the real actor and the fictional character.

Leonard Nimoy take us, with his characteristic kindness and honesty, into the joint story about him as an actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and so on; and Spock, a character form an uncertain TV show who became a cultural icon of the 20th Century, and how they deal with each other.

Listening to Mr. Nimoy reading made the book more reachable to Star Trek fans, and to admirers of Mr. Nimoy’s trajectory in arts. The interactions between Mr. Nimoy and Mr. Spock are candid, honest, and in character for both, without diminishing any of them. It’s not a parody or a caricature of any of them, but a struggle to live with each other and, in the end, to admit that both, Mr. Nimoy and Mr. Spock, are one and only and, at the same time, two individuals, with their own personality and their own individuality.

It is a delightful experience to read and listen to this book, performed perfectly by its author, taking us to his journey of exploration of himself and the character he played for many years in TV and movies.
