Publisher's Summary
Written over the course of 1904-1906, Soseki Natsume's comic masterpiece, I Am a Cat, satirizes the foolishness of upper-middle class Japanese society during the Meiji era. With acerbic wit and sardonic perspective, it follows the whimsical adventures of a world-weary stray kitten who comments on the follies and foibles of the people around him.
A classic of Japanese literature, I Am a Cat is one of Soseki's best-known novels. Considered by many as the greatest writer in modern Japanese history, Soseki's I Am a Cat is a classic novel sure to be enjoyed for years to come.

I Am a Cat
A very philosophical book with chuckles about the foibles of man as seen by a cat. However, I was distressed about the ending.

Humorous but Sad making.
Excellent narration allows a complete realization on each character; the satire is as advertised! The ending, touching and briefly overshadows the messages.

the writer was very preachy and pushy
I found it rather difficult to get through. the author I found to preach his world views endlessly throughout the book and only near the beginning of the book did I feel like maybe I was viewing things out of the eyes and ears of a cat. A lot of the views in the book I found frustrating to listen to at best, and at its worst, disturbing. I don't recommend this book. It is a long listen for little enjoyment
