Publisher's Summary

A New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly best seller!

If Eckhart Tolle and Jim Carrey had a baby, that baby would be Kyle Cease.

After 25 years of achieving what he thought were his dreams of being a headlining touring comedian and actor, Kyle Cease suddenly discovered that the belief that "when something happens, I will be happy" is a complete lie. With nothing more than an intuition, he decided to quit his stand-up career at its peak, and now - as a transformational comedian - he brings his one-of-a-kind self-help wisdom to sold-out audiences in his Evolving Out Loud Live stage show.

In I Hope I Screw This Up, he disarms listeners as he leads them to their own personal breakthroughs, helping them to recognize that actual happiness and fulfillment is available to them - not in some distant future, but right now. As he has shown audiences all over the world, when you embrace your pain, fear, and vulnerability instead of pushing it away, you will discover an authentic creativity and power that is truly unstoppable.

Using self-deprecating personal stories and hilarious observations on life, Kyle unravels the deepest issues standing between us and emotional freedom. From discovering the never-ending opportunities that come from playing - and going with whatever comes up in the moment - to learning to let go of what feels heavy in our lives, this book is a journey into the endless possibility that can appear if we just dare to let go of our fear of screwing up.

This is not motivation. This is not inspiration. This is true transformation.

Right BANG ON!!!! Loved it!!!!!

I have followed Kyle for a few years now and the way he explains how he has grown over the years through his meditation and stillness practice has inspired me to do my own. His sense of humour is also pretty darn funny, keeping things light. Really enjoyed listening to this book. I found my self rewinding 30, 30, 30 to listen to some of his concepts over again to really let them land and soak in. Thanks you Audible and Kyle!!!! I appreciated the fact that Kyle not only narrated the book himself but he took the extra time to explain certain aspects of the book for those of us that were listening rather than reading the paper version!!!!! ❤️🙏🕉

Couldn’t finish this book

His constant Weak jokes got real old. I’m sure without all the bad humor there might be a message somewhere.

So damn good!

What an awesome book! Especially listening to it since Kyle goes off script so often and hilariously describes all the photos :)

And beyond just entertaining, there is a huge amount of wisdom packed into this book as well.

Thanks Kyle!

Wanders, Hits A Truth, Then Wanders Again

I generally think comedians have genuine and hyper-intelligent observations that the rest of us can only appreciate, not demonstrate on our own. And such it is with Kyle Cease's I Hope I Screw This Up.
But that's the bad part, the part that keeps this from becoming a super tool for self-awareness and personal growth. There's plenty of good here but, just as Cease comes upon a truth, wham! He's off to the races on some humorous meanderings that keep you from being able to ingest what he has to offer. And there are plenty of poignant bits in this book that make that such a pity. He keeps saying things like: Back to the point, and: What I started out saying. How disappointing; how diverting.
I'd keep coming up on genuine connections then I'd be distracted by yes, quite chuckle-inducing bits. But I'm a Self-Development person and focus is key for true enlightenment. The guy can't help it that he's funny. But he could've made certain parts funny and certain parts serious rather than letting the book just wander.
Not a popular review, I know, but there you go. If humor is what you're looking for, with a few serious and enlightening bits, this book is for you. If you're looking for a true tool for self-development, you might be a tad exasperated as the digressions are all over the place. I applaud his intention, but I regret the execution: Good bits, wandering, more wandering, good bits, then wandering again and again.

Don't drink and listen or spit-takes will result

I'm listening to the foreword and love it already!!! I have read the hard copy of the book, and know it's awesome, but I have a feeling there are many delightful surprises tucked away in the audio version. Kyle is so damn funny and super insightful! I'll update this when I'm done, if that's possible, but get this book! Get it now!

This book is worth checking out.

I must admit listening to this audiobook has given me a complete new way of reframing my thoughts and making allowing me to now act, where I use to be stuck.

I really enjoyed the flow of the book. Being an author myself, the creativity is just awesome for me to witness. Which gives me new focused energy to continue writing, along with other goals I've allowed my brain to stop.

there are some good nuggets, but at times it was not clear to me. Kyle is funny, but his reading is a bit dry.

Absolutely loved it

This will be my first review on Audible. I am actually using speak text as I drive down the road haha. As cheesy as it may sound this book was very transformational, I have felt a major shift just listening.

My driving partner for 2 days

I'm so glad I bought this book and listened to.it at this time. I drive a lot for work and Kyle was there with me teaching me all these awesome things that I already knew, because Kyle and I, well we are basically the same person ; ) If you are getting over a break up while being ghosted by your new potential lover and are absolutely loathe your job. This might give you a glimmer of hope and teach you that at this stage of the game the most important person to keep in your life, is you!

Wanted to love it but didn't

Frankly I felt annoyed by this book. Just when he FINALLY is about to make his point he's suddenly yelling (not literally) "squirrel!!" and then lickity split he's off on another tangent. Maybe the rambling humor appeals to most, but it's definitely not for me. At least not in the genre of self development books. Can't say I got anything out of this other than a bit annoyed.

Ok.

Kyle presents several foundational philosophies from a unique perspective rooted in an untraditional background and skill set. However, be prepared to ‘humor’ Kyle as he randomly drifts off into unrelated stories, imagination, and diatribes of completely useless information. It’s as if in between sprints of focused inspiration, he loses track and then starts to fill the pages with words just to make the book seem longer. I get that this is part of Kyle’s attempt to be funny, and some of them are, but most of the time they aren’t and I just find myself wondering why I’m listening to a grown man painfully and awkwardly try to be funny with long tangential anecdotes about Jennifer Anniston, Doritos, Taco Time, and other strange misdirections. What he was trying to do was a nice idea, and I really enjoy watching Kyle on stage, but this book is trying to be too much, which ultimately detracts from what we, the listeners, really want it to be.

extremely witty , very funny, highly enlightening

I had several laugh out loud moments. Kyle gets transformation, and he relates it in a way that is fun and free.

Annoying book

yes, as expected it was a screwed-up book ! Congratulation.
If you like the "audible" humour of the author to be explained a picture that you can't see because you have the "audible" version :/ .... go ahead.
As he stated into his book, it is a book for Himself ! he absolutly don't care about the reader/listener.
Anyway, if you want to screw up 5h30m of your life, you know what to do
