Publisher's Summary

A TikTok sensation! Sparks fly when a competitive figure skater and hockey team captain are forced to share a rink.

Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team.

Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins.

Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him.

But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot.

Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn’t worried… because she could never like a hockey player, right?

Correct sans plus

Les narrateurs sont bons mais l’histoire est inutilement longue. Le livre aurait mérité 10 chapitres de moins.

Such a cute story

The spiceeee in this book I was not expecting! I was listening to this at work and I was looking around and turning it down to make sure no one could hear it through my headphone. But overall super cute story and the narration was done really well!

Not my favourite

Several storylines were just filler and unnecessary. Could have been like 6 chapters shorter and more enjoyable.

This made me fall in love with books!!!

The story was so captivating and easy to follow. The narrators brought the characters to life, and the details and descriptions in the book made it seem as if I was watching them in real life. I could not stop listening!!!!

A must read, wether you end up liking it or not

A lot of the plot lines go nowhere. the last 1/3 of the book was very hard to get through, listen on 2x speed lol. but it was worth the read if you’re into booktok

I would listen to this again.

I really enjoyed this, I'm glad I invested my time in Nathan's and Anastasia's love story. I love Tim Page's narration of Nathan, his voice is really nice imo. Anastasia is the grumpy one and Nathan is the playful one. The smut was hot and I loved going back and forth between point of views.

All the hype is justified!!

This was fricken amazing. Our FMC is a figure skater with some pretty serious perfectionism struggles. Shes trying to make it to the Olympics. When the something happens to the second ice rink the hockey players are forced to share the single rink with the figure skaters. This is when Anastasia meeter Nathan. He is captain of the hockey team. Anastasia believes that the hockey guys pulled a stupid prank and because of their bad decisions she is now being forced to share her rink. So she and Nathan don't get off to the best start, much to Nathan's dismay. He wants to be friends and make the shared rink less stressful for both sides. Cue the dislike to lovers trope and him working to get her to like him. Shes snarky and difficult and he's a total cinnamon roll. It's great.

I saw some reviews where people Dnf'd due to body image discussions at the beginning of the book. And yes, there is some toxic diet culture bs at the beginning but this story heals from that. So for people who feel triggered by that topic know that her relationship with food becomes empowering to read about and this book isn't promoting diet culture.

The things I loved about this book...

⚪ The banter and independency of the Anastasia. She is hilarious and I loved her inner monologue throughout this book. I especially loved how she dealt with stress when issues arose with Nate. Her therapy experience came through and I loved reading about a character who went to therapy and applied it to her own life and didn't hold others to the same expectations since they haven't gone through the same level of therapy. Shes extremely empathetic and compassionate to others even though she can be a total bitch when pushed.

⚪ As triggering as it was for me, I really appreciated how this book tackled dealing with difficult people. Specifically, narcissists. Growing up with an emotionally damaged person I was able to really see the nuances the author put into this book when conflict arose. The walking on eggshells, the gas lighting... Yes, it was hard to read but it also felt like the author knows how it feels to be on the receiving end of that kind of abuse which 99% of the general population don't. It made me feel seen and like I was alone.

⚪ I loved the found family aspect of the hockey team to the girls. God, those guys were funny. And Henry was the fricken best. I felt like he was a bit on the spectrum due to his reactions in some scenes and I really appreciated how loved he was by the girls and the team.

⚪ Nate is such a swoonworthy book boyfriend. But I also loved that the author was able to show his insecurities and allowed him to really grow. The thing about this book is that the character growth is epic. The people you meet at the beginning are so different from the people towards the end.

Things to expect
✅ Dual POV
✅ Some of the best spicy scenes I've read to date
✅ Found family
✅ Praise kink
✅ No 3rd act breakup (so refreshing)
✅ Reverse grumpy x sunshine
✅ Forced Proximity

Painful narration

The voices of the narrators didn’t at all fit the characters. Story was cute, long but cute.

Not at all factual

If your looking for a story where the author either did not do research into her topics or didn’t care, this is your book. As a former figure skater, and the mom of a very high level college athlete, there were so many inaccuracies, it became laughable to me. Case in point-figure skating is not an NCAA college sport (therefore no scholarship), a pair doing side by side quadruple lutzes is ridiculous due to the difficulty & lead up to the jump, the actual amount of training time seemed diminished from reality, Stasi’s parents go see Nate at the NCAA championships, but not to their daughter’s trip to Nationals, the falling into the lake after skating alone (& not notifying her parents), the idea that an athlete could take two weeks off for Christmas break during the height of the competitive season is again laughable, and the unbelievably unrealistic epilogue-Nate winning the NCAA hockey championships, the Stanley Cup, & Stasi the Olympics. Absolutely no concept about the reality of sports at that level, or the true dedication and the disappointments that come along with it. Oh & the “prank” that caused enough damage for the 2nd rink to be closed for months of repairs but no one was arrested.

Besides that, the story was a typical college love story with a lot of partying and sexual content included. It did address issues of eating disorders within sports, consent, & therapy to address mental health issues which is a good thing. The narrators did a decent job. The narrator for Stasi didn’t have the best of deliveries for her part. I felt like she was reading it directly off the page not within the “part”. Disappointed but finished the book.

Pretty awful

First half of the book was just awful, a train wreck. Female lead was such an immature, selfish, party girl who was in a Friends with Benefits relationship with a basketball player at her College but still going to parties wearing no underwear and looking to hook up. Most characters are college athletes hoping to go pro. Not sure how this will happen as they go to practices hung over and spend more time on sex than studies or their sport.
Second part of the book was marginally better however this book could have been much much shorter if you left out half the gratuitous sex scenes, manufactured emotion and angst. The last 1/4 of book and epilogues are ONLY salvageable parts of this book but they are so predictable I groaned.

Skip

Did not finish book. Stopped at 39%.
Didn’t connect to any of the characters. Voice actors were not engaging. Plot was slow moving and the problem was really nonexistent.

Overhyped

Maybe my expectations were too high from all the hype on tik tok about this book. I thought it was an okay book, the spice was good but overall I was let down. I didn’t feel like the male narrator fit the male lead voice.

SO MUCH SEX!

Disclaimer: Do NOT listen to this book in the car with your spouse or kids! There is so much explicit sex it's embarrassing. I have nothing against steamy romance or sexually empowered female characters, but woah, this was like being in the room with two horny college kids who are getting after it every chance they get with a little plot in between. Granted, I am probably too old for the intended audience (college?) but Audible did recommend it so I bit. I did listen to the whole book somehow, even though I felt like I had to sneak it when my family was sleeping! The story is cute, the writing and narration is fine, a story about two college athletes mildly interested but just know you may want to listen to this one behind closed oors.

I wish I had the option to return this. The main female character is annoying and the story plot sucks.
