Publisher's Summary

From YouTube star and Facebook Video sensation Laura Clery comes a collection of comedic essays in the vein of We Are Never Meeting in Real Life by Samantha Irby and You’ll Grow Out of It by Jessi Klein.

Laura Clery makes a living by sharing inappropriate comedy sketches with millions of strangers on the internet. She writes songs about her anatomy, talks trash about her one-eyed rescue pug, and sexually harasses her husband, Stephen. And it pays the bills!

Now, in her first-ever audiobook, Laura recounts how she went from being a dangerously impulsive, broke, unemployable, suicidal, cocaine-addicted narcissist, crippled by fear and hopping from one toxic romance to the next...to a more-happy-than-not, somewhat rational, meditating, vegan yogi with good credit, a great marriage, a fantastic career, and four unfortunate-looking rescue animals. Still, above all, Laura remains an amazingly talented, adorable, and vulnerable self-described...Idiot.

With her signature brand of offbeat, no-holds-barred humor, Idiot introduces you to a wildly original - and undeniably relatable - new voice.

I cried, I laughed, I yelled “OMG me too!!”

I love Laura’s expression and outrageous adventures. At first, it took me awhile to get into it...but I gave it a chance and I am so glad I did. Laura has substance to her, her story resonated with me in many ways. As expected, she narrates it beautifully. I felt like I was sitting in the car with her and she was just unleashing her life on me.
My only criticism would be...there’s a point where she becomes repetitive and she looses me. But nonetheless, the book is worth finishing.

A favorite read

I've always liked Help Helen Smash, bit hearing Laura read this whole book was surprising brilliant (as opposed to how the title reads). I'm thankful for her stories as they bring out her humor and gracelessness to make people uncomfortable. I love it. Please keep on Laura, I've seen many friends go through their addictions and only some come out the other side. I'm glad to know that you are continuing a path of sobriety.

First audio book, regret nothing

I loved listening to Laura share her story of her true and authentic self. It’s inspiring to listen to. I did not know much about Laura prior to hearing this book and have found myself inspired and intrigued due to her vulnerability to share her personal life story. I think she is very relatable to so many people, yet so unique in expressiveness and creativity. You’ll enjoy it.

funny, raw, and inspiring

A well written, funny, honest, and raw story of a creative soul just trying to find her place in the world. Laura narrated this in the most engaging way, I laughed again and again at the voices she used and the absurdity of some of the situations she found herself in. She ends it in such a way that inspired me to pursue my own goals and stop getting in my own way. definitely worth a listen!

Phenomenal

This book is entirely relatable for me. It helped me laugh at some dark realities of my own, and the way she reads it is like a conversation. Best audio novel ever.

Absolutely worth every penny, especially for HHS fans!

Laura is such a hilarious and beautiful soul, and beyond inspirational! I have been a huge fan of hers beginning with “Help Helen Smash” but didn’t know her backstory...what a roller coaster of challenges she has endured and overcome!!! Her story about her relationship with her family, trauma from abusive boyfriends, and long road of addiction to her transformed sobriety is so well written, and binge worthy. I listened straight through! Being able to listen to Laura tell her own story was priceless, I am so glad she chose to narrate it. Laura is just so witty and being able to hear her inflections, funny accents, comedic timing, as well as her occasional guest narrator was so special. If you are already a fan, there’s no way that you will not love Laura’s book!

If you aren’t a fan, go watch all of Laura’s amazing videos and then enjoy this truly well written and beautifully narrated audiobook.

So bad

I’m pretty sure I’m the only non-bot to review this book. I’m so confused how it has five stars.

I'm the "Idiot" for buying this!

SO, SO boring! If you want to listen to the tale of a self-entitled brat from suburbia, who had horrible parents and was basically rewarded in life for being an "Idiot" She talks in a promo about how "Brave and scared" she is if sharing her life, but then, makes excuses and jokes for her behaviors during the entire book. Even saying how "Fun," Mushrooms are...great Mom there....Honestly, I should've based my choice on her "sitcom" etc....I don't like it. I don't think you're "a piece of shit", I just do NOT enjoy your writing.
