Publisher's Summary

An achingly authentic and raw portrait of love, regret, and the life-altering impact of the relationships we hold closest to us, this YA best seller is perfect for fans of Kasie West, All the Bright Places, and Dear Evan Hansen.

If he had been with me, everything would have been different....

Autumn and Finn used to be inseparable. But then something changed. Or they changed. Now, they do their best to ignore each other.

Autumn has her boyfriend, Jamie, and her close-knit group of friends. And Finn has become that boy at school, the one everyone wants to be around.

That still doesn't stop the way Autumn feels every time she and Finn cross paths, and the growing, nagging thought that maybe things could have been different. Maybe they should be together.

But come August, things will change forever. And as time passes, Autumn will be forced to confront how else life might have been different if they had never parted ways....

The fact that he loved her for a long time, before she noticed her feelings for him.

I loved this book, I have read my far share but this one takes my heart. I will say I’m mad that we didn’t get to see his pov but still. This book mad me laugh, giggle, cry, and cringe when Jamie said something. Idk but there was something from the beginning that made me dislike him. I strongly suggest anyone who is looking for a book to read and a good cry. If you don’t cry, you’re a robot.

Slow slow slow build up

The only excitement is the last 10 chapters the rest is dull then devastating. Left feeling confused and wanting my time back

A long winded tale of star crossed lovers

Story was drawn out, dull and tiresome to get through. A long winded tale of star crossed lovers. Privileged children failing to communicate, woe is me!

I really enjoyed this listening to this story but found the narration mechanical sounding. story gets 5 stars, narration gets 3

I have read some really good books in the last couple of months and this one is absolutely on my recommended list. As the book was finishing, I was already texting for of my book buddies to buy rent steel somehow acquire this read, the story was so engaging. The characters were so well developed, and the last couple of chapters gripped my heart.

I couldn’t really get into the book until around chapter 25, but then after I got really into it and couldn’t put it down.

Review (Major Spoilers Ahead)

This book was really good and even though it wasn’t action packed it still held my attention and interest the whole time. I wasn’t angry about how long it took Autumn and Finny to get together surprisingly. I was so happy when they finally ended up together. But I was so mad at the end, even though I saw it coming I hoped it wouldn’t. The author strung us along thinking they’d finally have their happy ending, and killed Finny off! I don’t think I’ve cried that hard over a book in a long time. And then when Autumn wanted to kill herself too it made me cry even more. I hated that Finny had to die, and I almost physically felt the loss as of it were my own, because I realized no matter what he would never come back to life and she would never have him with her again, he was gone forever, and that realization made my soul ache. I can’t even imagine the pain that causes, and then thinking about how perfect they were for each other and how their would be no one else for her. I didn’t like the 2 pregnancies in the book though, I really don’t like pregnancy tropes since I myself do not want kids so it’s not something I want to read about. I knew it would happen after they did it without a condom but I was hoping it wouldn’t. This book also made me long for my own relationship like theirs, where the person loves me for me and I love them for them and we don’t try to change each other.

Just alright

I liked the story line, but the writing was not what i expected for a "must read". There was a lot of I said, he says she said. It reads a bit like a diary that's a bit anticlimactic.
