Publisher's Summary

Rebecca Keane has it all figured out. With a successful career as an Army surgeon and a fresh promotion to lieutenant colonel, she loves her life leading a surgical team. Even if that life means she’s spent years hiding her sexuality and ignoring her desires under the Army’s "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy. Then Captain Sabine Fleischer’s arrival sets off an attraction that cracks Rebecca’s carefully cultivated armor and brings about fresh complications.

As Sabine’s direct commanding officer, Rebecca knows she cannot act on her attraction, but that knowledge does nothing to squash her desires. Unable to keep her thoughts about the alluring other woman under control, Rebecca resigns herself to years of censoring her thoughts and feelings until Sabine’s time in the Army is done. She’s spent decades suppressing parts of herself for her job, so what’s a few more years?

But as Rebecca and Sabine work closely together on Army bases in Afghanistan and the States, the undeniable sparks between them begin to ignite. And despite Rebecca’s constant self-censure, her denials and her knowledge of every obstacle standing between them, her resolve crumbles with each passing day. But when the consequences of your love run deeper than just breaking one of the unbreakable rules of the military, you risk losing more than just your heart.

If I Don’t Ask is the must-hear story telling Rebecca’s side of E. J. Noyes’ best-selling Ask, Tell.

great story

loved this, getting Rebecca's side makes it much more interesting with both their POV. Abby Craden great as always with different voices for each person, always great to have the same person narrate the same story.

Loved it!

I own every E.J. Noyes audiobook there is and can say without a doubt that E.J. Noyes + Abby Craden = magic! You can't go wrong with this or any of the other books in the Ask, Tell series! 100% worth a listen, it's really nice to hear more of the history between Sabine and Rebecca and experience many of the events of Ask, Tell from Rebecca's perspective.
As with all E.J. Noyes books, I highly recommend it!!

The Other side of the story

If you have listened to Ask Tell, Ask me again, then it’s a no-brainer that you are going to love it too.

There are 2 sides to every story and this beautifully crafted story is from the delightful point of view of Dr Rebecca Keane. It is great to see the scenes through her eyes and get some more background and history of the character.

If you haven’t read any of EJ Noyes books then crawl from under the rock you have been living under and catch up!

Now I’m off to listen to Ask Tell again, I’m interested to do so with my insider knowledge!

As always Abby Crasen brings the characters to life with her wonderful narration.

Everything we could have asked for and more!

I. LOVED. THIS. AUDIOBOOK.

It will be a surprise to absolutely no one that this book is terrific like its predecessors. As I was listening to this story - which takes place at virtually the same time as Ask, Tell but from LTC Rebecca Keane's Point of View - I kept thinking how incredibly grateful I am that EJ Noyes felt the need to revisit these characters. That readers needed to know what Rebecca was thinking and feeling during this time, when we'd only seen it from Sabine Fleischer's point of view. And it doesn't feel like a retread at all but new, fresh material.

It's amazing how much has changed since the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy was revoked, but at the same time, I can't help but feel nervous that we may be moving into an era where it might happen all over again. And while I now feel the need to re-listen to Ask Me Again (the second in the series) it's such an incredibly painful book to experience because Noyes captures Sabine's struggle in such a deep way. She has a gift for that. Like her incredible novel Alone, these are books that leave a reader so raw that you almost have to be in the right frame of mind to go there.

Abby Craden proves time and time again that even the best books can be improved upon with the right narrator. One of her greatest talents is that she accesses, then conveys emotions so beautifully that the listener feels every single thing. From the sensual to the tormented, her work on this is just exquisite. I was completely enthralled down to the last seconds of the book. And the consummation scene? Oh my god. Oh. My. God. Just amazing.

Masterful

Who else fell in love with Rebecca's voice on Ask, Tell? Talk about talent. The minute I saw this book was written with Rebecca's point of view, I had to get it. It's awesome to see how Sabine and Rebecca tell their own side of their love story and how each one evolved. And Abby Craden, my god. She is by far the best narrator and honestly, she makes every book better. Rebecca's voice is my favorite thus far. Abby is brilliant.

Beautiful

Having read the series and knowing to expect certain events, I was surprised when the tears fell anew when it happened. Hearing the story told through Beck’s experience truly gave a 360 to the series. E.J. Noyes masterfully weaves the story with such description and emotion. Paired with narration by Abbey Craden this is a must listen.

I love, love, loved this book. Getting Rebecca’s perspective brought the whole story into its conclusion. Knowing Rebecca Keane was human with real down to earth emotions was terrific to the 4 book series. Highly recommend this audiobook! Abby Craden is the best!

great book, great narrator

I love this series!!! I would absolutely love to hear Donna's story next! I know this sounds silly but her voice is so intriguing. I hope this series keeps going.
Also, Abby Craden has ruined me for every other narrator. I literally cannot listen to anyone else! it's becoming an issue!

Pretty good despite narration being overacted

The narration was overacted. I realized that Abby is often chosen to narrate lesbian romances. I just think would be better with less quaver and angst in the delivery of narration. Glad Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is over now in the military!

AMAZING

I knew it would be good. I knew it would be great. What I didn’t know is that this would become my favorite book! Actually, I probably knew that too. I love E.J. Noyes and she’s truly my favorite author. More so than Tolkien and all of the others. She’s right on up there with the greats. I’m happy I decided to randomly search and see if she had any upcoming books coming out soon and I caught this amazing one on the release date. It’s seriously so good and I think Bec and Sabine will always hold a place in my heart. Thank you E.J. for another amazing world to get lost in

Wow!

This is a book worth devouring! The complexity and finesse Abby Craden brings to Rebecca Keane is breathtaking. This story was captivating and thrilling especially if listened to as a follow up to Ask, Tell. Very satisfied and longing for more.

reussis
