Publisher's Summary

The most frank and intimate portrait of the Trump White House yet

Stephanie Grisham rose from being a junior press wrangler on the Trump campaign in 2016 to assuming top positions in the administration as White House press secretary and communications director, while at the same time acting as First Lady Melania Trump’s communications director and eventually chief of staff. Few members of the Trump inner circle served longer or were as close to the first family as Stephanie Grisham, and few had her unique insight into the turbulent four years of the administration, especially the personalities behind the headlines.

Good Listen

This book was a good listen. I feel like she really don't own up to her responsibility and put the blame elsewhere. I do have a little more respect for Melania.

Unreliable Narrator

I hate to say it, but I don’t disagree with most of the reviews made here about this book. The narration is really flat and she definitely doesn’t seem to take accountability not only for herself, but also for Donald Trump (!) and the Republican party that she continues to stand with.

She also leaves out crucial milestone moments like the “Muslim ban” and the comment on the African countries being “sh*tholes”. And she brushes off the immigration detainment camps and child-parent separation as “something the previous office did too.” Trump spent so much time trying to show how he’s different and better than Obama… by how? Being the same? I wish there was more introspection and less protecting Donald Senior and Melania. And also her hatred of CNN for not reporting “the truth” without levelling that same energy towards POTUS is laughable.

It feels like everyone who is wrong had deeply hurt the author personally in some way, which does make the personal atrocity invalid, but also doesn’t make the overall circumstances fact.

In reading a number of these exposé books on the Trump administration, it seems clear that these are all versions of the truth, but not the truth itself.

So while I don’t agree it was boring, I will say that I think the onus is on each of us, the readers, to piece together the truth. And to remember each of these books have an inherent bias and thus require critical thinking and discernment.

Disappointed

Not much new in this book. Lots of praising and admiration of the former First Lady at first but the shocking realization that in the end she (Stephanie) was treated like everyone else they got tired of hit her hard. Her disappointment in the former president and First Lady was paramount. It was an airing of what she went through and how she was let down while also going through a tough breakup.

Ummm….kinda boring..so many excuses.

This book is a long winded whine by a person who thinks everyone in the administration was treated unfairly by everyone. It is a book full of excuses again and again. Oh and blaming everyone else for anything that went wrong…it’s a cry for attention, a boo-hoo book that is pro-trump in every single word. Around half way, i got tired of her high pitched voice talking about the same things that everyone already knows. Anyone who didn’t stay and show loyalty were bad people and caused issues for everyone. It is certainly a bias story not based in facts and truth. Like my review, it goes on and on.

I really tried to like this book, but just could not at all. I wish i could get my 6 hours back, it was a complete waste of time…sad!

So happy it was a free download

Really tough to get through this one. I’m not sure if she intentionally wanted everyone to see her as a parasitic sycophant but that’s how she appeared to me. Ewww.

No Questions

This is pretty bad. Performance is flat and monotone. Not much new is revealed and it does sound like a scorned person venting.

A Grand Trump Apologist’s Journal

If you were hoping for an honest insider’s view of a Trump Presidency, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Sometimes it sounds like the diary of a teen ager. Other times it sounds like the smarmy retelling of a fan girls journal. Oftentimes, it clearly shows how inexperienced and under qualified Grisham was. Perhaps this was her idea of winning the Former First Lady’s favour, in the hopes of future employment should, god forbid, there be a second Trump Presidency. Grisham wants to walk a tightrope between…, “I hated the bad times.”…, “I loved so much about the Trumps”. Which seems to be how most of the Republicans who worked with Trump, act. None of them are able to speak with much honesty and admit that this was a man who was completely unqualified and unequipped to be POTUS. But hardest to swallow is the self pity. The times the question, “but what could I do?”, was asked. Here’s a thought Stephanie, resign. That’s what you could’ve done. Put country over party. Have some dignity, some pride, and do what was right. Writing this self pitying book was NOT what was right. I wasted an audible credit on this.

Disappointed

As I was listening to this book I really disliked the fact that it seemed the author really wasn't taking any accountability for her actions. I also did not like the smug tone she has as she reads her own work, I couldn't finish it.
