Romance and intrigue!

There is nothing better than when an author can take real life problems and integrate them into a well written story. Patricia D. Eddy has a knack for doing it with this series and has me completely hooked! This story gives us Royce, owner of Emerald City Security as he heals from brain tumor surgery and a stroke. He is a strong man, but now with his limitations is very vulnerable. Inara is a sharpshooter, working for a private company and she suffers from PTSD. With similar pasts, they have much in common and are able to understand and relate to each other. This love affair is captivating, taking true life issues and bringing them to the forefront. But not only is this a love story, the impending dangers that occur are not to be ignored. High action and suspense keep you on the edge of your seat as you listen. This narration by Aiden Snow and Grace Grant is astonishing. Snow's performance of Royce, with speech and health problems is so believable, you would think that it was his normal pace of narration. Grant gives voice to Inara with grit and passion. Between the two, you would think they were the actual characters telling us the story. Loved this team, and it's a must listen!

Action and Romance Combine in this Well Done Audio

Intense and filled with action, this is one romance that I couldn't put down. Here we meet Royce and Inara, and both have scars. Some of these are obvious, but some not. It's great to get to know both characters here, and I'm intrigued enough that I want to look up other books in the series. The writing is excellent, and the narrators do a fantastic job as well. This is a voluntary review of a gifted copy.

more than blood, bullets, and buds

Patricia Eddy wrote a book that exceeded my expectations. I love it when an author is able to cross genres of romance, suspense, and action. The story was excellent and the twists kept coming. I felt the narration was spot one with the POV narration. Both Aiden Snow and Grace Grant added so much to the book, with how they performed their parts. I will definitely listen to more books by the author and narrators, I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review,

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

Patricia D. Eddy pens another great novel in her “Away from Keyboard” series. This book is Royce Nadiri and Inara Ruzgani’s story, both characters are connected to characters in the first book. Royce was Cam’s boss, he was not my favorite character in her book but he redeems himself in this book and not just to me, but Cam as well. Inara is a former Military, an Army Ranger who work assignments for Hidden Agenda when called in, the same company West works for. We learned of Royce’s medical condition in the 1st book, he had a stroke while undergoing surgery it left him with some impairments, something he is learning to improve and live with. He meets Inara thru their mutual friends and they hit it off right away. The chemistry between these two was electric, I thought they were great together and for each other. They both have their own issues and battles with inner demons, the can relate to each other, talking comes easy to them when they feel confident enough to share. When Inara finally puts together that certain occurrences were not accidents or coincidences she takes off thinking it was for Royce’s protection. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional and a great romance. Patricia D. Eddy, thank you for another great story and a thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride. 🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Aiden Snow and Grace Grant are talented narrators and voice artists. They did a fabulous job portraying the characters, humanizing them and bringing them to life. They gave each character their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Aiden Snow’s played the perfect Royce, he took that role and made it his own. Grace Grant did the same for Inara. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

another hit for me!

Patricia had written another gripping story in her AFK series. I love that you can read these in any order or as stand alone, but you would be denying yourself the enjoyment of all the characters and their intertwined lives if you miss one! This book focuses on Royce and Inara and their struggles and triumphs while they learn to navigate life after military service and trauma. They each find their new normal as they get to know one another. Patricia has given us characters with depth and this isnt your typical military romance!

Love Inara and Royce!

I just love all the AFK books. Patricia’s work is always a quick read or listen for me. I can never put it down. Inara is strong woman who is also vulnerable so she’s so relatable. Royce is beautifully broken and I just love him. Grace Grant are two of my favourite narrators and I loved listening to them for 6ish hours.

Wow - just wow

I cannot get enough of this series!! Inara and Royce are two completely broken individuals that need each other to piece themselves back together. But can you support another person while you yourself keep falling apart? Highly emotional and highly captivating. I think I have found me new go to series to listen to again and again as Aiden Snow and Grace Grant could not have brought this story to life any better.

Strong characters, great story!

Once again, Patricia Eddy delivers complex characters suffering from PTSD and folds them flawlessly into a story that is interesting, exciting and brings focus to the struggles with chronic pain, anxiety, and folding back into civilian life. I really enjoyed this story and quickly moved through the rest of the series. Narration by Aiden Snow and Grace Grant is excellent! Very passionate performances with good variation for each character.

Royce and Inara

These two soldiers have come along way. Royce has some major medical issues but he can still love. Inara has some stress issues from the job but she can still love too. Apparently there is someone out there with only hate left and sets his sights! Great addition to the series and great narration!
