Publisher's Summary

Veteran police officer Sam McKenna has no trouble facing down criminals on a daily basis, but breaks out in a sweat at the mere mention of commitment. A recent failed relationship strengthens her resolve to stick with her trademark no-strings-attached affairs.

Dr. Riley Connolly, a successful trauma surgeon, has spent her whole life trying to measure up to her family's expectations. And that includes hiding her sexuality from them.

When a routine call sends Sam to the hospital where Riley works, the two women are hurtled into a life-and-death situation. The incident binds them together. But can there be any future for a commitment-phobic cop and a closeted, workaholic doctor?

Contains mature themes.

Boring

It started out good, but then it dropped. It was boring, no action at all. The best was the slap. Then she let
it go. That was assault. The cops would have been at the restaurant so fast. I can't believe she let that go.
Bad guys should always pay, and I am always disappointed when these lesbian novels try to act so holier
than thou. Pick it up lesbians make at least some of your books real.

Nice Listen!

I finished the first book in this book series, and enjoyed it a lot, so quickly moved on to this audiobook. i liked this second book a little MORE than the first book. it was good to hear from the main characters from book 1 (two are sisters). my only complaint is Sam's voice... it's so high pitched! both woman had higher voices and that lead to a bit of confusion a few times plus, I enjoy the deeper voices character more usually ha I just thought Sam would have been more appealing if she didnt sound like a shy, young girl instead of a tall cop. Still, great book! fyi, the sex scenes are there but not overly detailed or steamy, but the story is good enough to not be too disappointed:)

Slow Burn Romance thatcstarts off with a bang

Nice slow burn romance from RJ Nolan once again narrated wonderfully by Angela Dawe. I thoroughly enjoyed this second novel in The L.A. Metro series which follows Police Officer Sam, who we met in the last book, and Dr. Riley Connely. I enjoyed watching their friendship and attraction flourish throughout the book and catching up with where Kim and Jess are now. Looking forward to reading book 3.

People can leave badvoices in our head love heals

Sam McKenna is a cop who isn't afraid of anything but relationships. Dr. Riley Connolly is a trauma surgeon who has spent her life trying to be what everyone else wants her to be. They are on a collision course that will change both of their lives. Their past keeps them from opening up fully till the end of the book. Their friendship is fordged by facing who they really are and love is born in stolen moments of caring for each other. The characters are so lovable and you want to encourage them to just talk to each other in many chapters. There is so much in each of their life experience you just keep turning the page. In this gift Angela Dawe brings them all to life as Jess and Kim share the pages. A great listen and very touching love story!

NOT as good as the original written version 2003

I was so looking forward to hearing this book, but I was so disappointed after I did. The performance was great, but the story had been cut to shreds from the original one I read in 2003.

Sorry to say I DO NOT LIKE this version. Not impressed with the rewrite. I really don't know the reason the original versions of LA Metropolitan, In A Heartbeat & Entwined Lives were rewritten like this... To say the least I am majorly disappointed. I enjoyed the fact the bad operators, in the original writings, got Karma thrown up in their faces. I also enjoyed the strength of the characters in the original version vs. the timidity of the current characters... SMH.... all I can say is WHY??

I loved RJ Nolan's ORIGINAL way of writing these stories. Wish those would have been published without tampering with the creativity that was clearly shown to begin with. Yes, it may have made for a longer book. Yes, it may have needed to be broken up in more segments, but I still believe it would have been worth it.

Small example: All of the characters build-up became more real and lovable in the original write. (Loved Riley character in the original version / Can't stand her in the published version, just yuck) Very disappointing.

I do believe RJ Nolan is a talented writer and I may check out some of her newer writings in the future, but I really disliked what was done to this series.

Great book

Loved this book, loved the story line, the characters the narration, the only thing I would have like a less childish/girly voice for Sam, after all she is a 6 feet strong cup...
