Surprised how much I adored this book!
Nice to hear a new male voice after so many of the same old guys... a lot of personality and emotion in this narration. My favorite of the Crimson Elite series, I was worried about a cliche single dad story, but it didn't feel that way at all. Love a good Sunshine and Grump dynamic!

The best of the series but overall the series is just okay
So this book was the best of the series because it had the right amount of spice to storyline but overall I felt underwhelmed by this series.
This story was a little strange with a one night stand who popped holes in the condom insuring she would get pregnant by the guy. Actually we found this information out in the book before this but in this book we found out that she knew she would die if she got pregnant but did it anyway because it’s what she always wanted… it’s leaves the reader wanting that’s not much of an explanation.
The number one thing that bugged me about this story was that he never did a paternity test when she was pregnant and asking him for money especially after she told him point blank she popped holes in the condom 😳 honestly what high powered businessman would just go along with it without checking, especially with his line of work it’s just to unbelievable!
Then he started dating a girl from work who has her own sad story of loosing a baby and they make a happy little family.

Phenomenal Book

Decent story but the male narration...cringe
Each of the 4 books in the series had interesting plots...some areas had gaps where things that needed to be discovered were not discussed by the characters but yet suddenly somehow they knew. I also see that many other listeners had a genuine problem with the male narration. I too found it difficult as it did not do justice to Darby's character. Darby is an intense, dark, ominous & scary persona yet the narrator for this book didn't convey this...instead the male narrator sounded sleepy, sluggish & slurred his words rather than spoke them...the sexy parts fell flat as the male narrator made it sound very cringe worthy...in order for me to get through it to complete the series I had to increase the speed of the voice which helped. My hope is the narrator can find ways to improve on this because a voice can make or break a character.

crazy woman - sluggish narrator
That woman is crazy - Charles’s mom.

Beautiful story
It is the best of the 4 books, but the male voice destroyed the reading. It was a terrible performance, he made Darby weird and all his interpretations of women's voices made them feel 70 years old.

Couldn’t finish!
The male narrator was just too hard to listen to, too akward and overly theatrical for my taste, didn’t mesh with the ‘brooding’ character profiles.
