My favorite series
Love the characters, the banter, the stories. Narrator does good male voices. Got to be hard to pull off without sounding ridiculous. At least I know my Avery voice is. I've said too much.

Yikes!
I like the Avery Shaw mysteries... but oh my goodness, this narrator is tough to continue listening to! Her cadence is off and nearly every guy-voice is high pitched and nasal.
It doesn't help that SEVERAL places have repeats from unedited recordings. I suffered through them, but I don't look forward to getting Book 7 through Audible. I'll probably bite the bullet and get the ebook.
As for the story, Book 6 may be my favorite as far as Avery's character development is concerned. I've wanted to like her from the get-go, but it was difficult in some of the earlier books... there was no end to her anger and it was starting to grate. At least in the last book in this series we see her anger and feisty nature doing more than upsetting her mother and making random people want to do her bodily harm.
Looking forward to more mysteries and more character development in future books!
*SPOILER ALERT* I don't know what it is with the name Ariel (perhaps the author has an arch nemesis and is immortilizing her in several bad characters or maybe The Little Mermaid was traumatic...) but it seems to pop up somewhere in nearly every book... for different characters... I think Book 6 also breaks this mold, unless I just blocked it out. : )

hurts my ears
Awful narrator. Listening to this book is like being in a room full of squeaking, squawking, angry teenagers...

Lots of errors but Avery showing growth
In Books 1-3 there were a lot of mispronunciations. In books 4-6 there were still a few mispronunciations but the main problem was repeated phrases and sentences. I don't understand why these are not being caught before publication.
I was pleased to see some growth in Avery's character and hope this continues.

What Can I Say?
I am addicted to this series. True, sometimes I get tired of the whining, but the next thing I know I am shaking with laughter. In fact, I cannot listen to them in bed because of the laughter. Even if I am quiet, there is the shaking. Avery"is a piece of work," but somehow loveable, and who wouldn't love Elliott and Jake. The family dinners are sights to behold, and the mysteries worth the price of admission. I only discovered this series a week ago and have binged Books 1-6. I just downloaded Books 7-9. Do yourself a favor and give them a read.

Lol Funny with Dark Situations
First- Angel Clark does a PERFECT job as Avery. She captures Avery’s immature side well. I love how Avery is so full of herself but gets her comeuppance often. She does seem more reflective/self-aware as the stories progress. This is my second time through the series of 20+ books.

Great book. I laughed and cry along the way
Books 4 through 6 were hard to put down. Amanda M. Lee has a way with making me laugh and cry through them. Avery, Elliot and Jake are great. I love to read books that get my emotions involved. I can't wait to read more of the books.

Editing errors
Whoever edited this book missed a lot of repeated words and lines in this book. The story was great but listening to parts of it were a little irritating.

Good Story & Narration
Avery’s life is a mess, and who does like her if anyone. From the new publisher and the staff at the newspaper, to her love life. Enjoyable and with good narration. Given audio for my voluntary review
