Publisher's Summary

The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times best-selling author Suzanne Enoch.

Happily-ever-after in the Highlands just got a whole lot hotter.

London socialite Amelia-Rose Baxter is nobody's fool. Her parents may want her to catch a title, but she will never change who she is for the promise of marriage. Her husband will be a man who can appreciate her sharp mind as well as her body. A sophisticated man who loves life in London. A man who considers her his equal - and won't try to tame her wild heart....

Rough, rugged Highlander Niall MacTaggert and his brothers know the rules: the eldest must marry or lose the ancestral estate, period. But Niall's eldest brother just isn't interested in the lady his mother selected. Is it because Amelia-Rose is just too...free-spirited? Yes. Brazen? Aye. Surely Niall can find a way to soften up the whip-smart lass and make her the perfect match for his brother for the sake of the family.

Instead, it's Niall who tempts Amelia-Rose, despite her reservations about barbarian Highlanders. Niall finds the lass nigh irresistible as well, but he won't make the mistake his father did in marrying an Englishwoman who doesn't like the Highlands. Does he have what it takes to win her heart? There is only one way to find out....

An Amazon best book of the month in romance.

Slow to start

The story itself had a great potential but was very slow to start. I prefer a story that moves at a more flowing rate.

Reader ruined story

I’m sorry, but the reader’s voice was whiny and so annoying I could barely finish. The story was good enough, but not good enough for me to listen to another if it’s the same reader

Meh

Underwhelming somehow. The narrator ruined it unfortunately. I liked the characters well enough. I hoped for more tension between the main two characters

I really tried, but...

If I hear the narrator say "Nye-Al" one more time, I'll scream. I hesitate to criticize a narrator - I certainly don't think I could be one. And, perhaps I'm wrong, and that is the correct way to pronounce the name in Scotland. But, it sounds like the narrator has to work hard to say it that way. That, and some of the other names, and the Scottish accent, were just not what I enjoy listening to. A shame, because I love a good series, and was looking forward to the books. This is why I am apprehensive about exploring new authors.

Most enjoyable!

Wonderful characters! I love the Scots being in England and going to the "Ton" events. The romance is very sweet. Well worth the time to listen.
