Publisher's Summary

This is a self-help book like no other. Because you are not helping yourself, James Acaster is helping you.

When James quit all forms of social media in 2019, he felt like he'd been born anew, but he was worried he'd suffer withdrawal and get lured back online to compete in a never-ending popularity contest with only one possible winner (f--king Zuckerberg). He knew that in order to stay clean, he'd have to replace everything social media used to give him with three-dimensional real-life activities.

And so it was that James found ways to anonymously bully strangers, see photos of everyone's dogs, get invited to as many parties as possible, immediately know about all celebrity deaths, get public figures fired, argue with everybody about everything and so much more without even owning a phone (he painted over the screen of his old one to stop himself looking at Instagram).

His life is amazing and yours could be too if you buy James Acaster's Guide to Quitting Social Media, Being the Best You You Can Be and Saving Yourself from Loneliness Vol. 1.

the perfect self help book

My only comment would be that I wish it was longer. It was delightfully unexpected.

perfect

Such a funny way to look at the internet an how ridiculous it is.

I really want a friend to read/listen to this so we can make inside jokes about it.

Would be best to already like James Acaster to get the humour.

A Comic Gem

I don’t know who James Acaster is but he is hilarious. Acaster shows us how easy it can be to quit social media the right way. A wild and unexpected ride throughout. Well worth the listen.

Brilliant

The worst self help book I’ve ever read, and it’s also the only one. I have learned so much about what not to do from this brilliant writer

I am only leaving this review because I am weak

I really enjoyed listening to this book, James makes for a great narrator.
The book was completely different from what I was expecting it to be, but I really enjoyed it for the most part, that being said If you are not a fan of James Acaster’s type of humor this book may not be for you.

If you are wondering why this book doesn’t have many reviews it’s because most people who listened to this audiobook already covered their phone in tar and are on their way to a storage unit somewhere remote. I on the other hand am too weak to follow the advice in this book.
