This is one of my favourite audiobooks of all time- a sort of comfort food to satiate my need for some good old gothic romance with a strong, pre-feminist heroine. Juliet Stevenson’s narration is spectacular - her voice is so beautiful that I would (and have) listened to almost any of her audiobooks but I believe she’s at her best with Jane Eyre. #Audible1

A great classic with an excellent performance. The one flaw with the Audible version, which I found irritating, is that the chapter designations in the audiobook do not match the chapter numbers in the novel. In fact, they do not come even close to making literary sense. Often one chapter begins and it is less than 3 minutes until an actual chapter in the book ends. So it isn’t as if there are 3-4 chapters under a “Chapter” heading like in some other audiobooks.

At first the rich language was unfamiliar but I grew to really enjoy it as the narrator does an excellent job. The story also was enjoyable and had a way of feeling relevant and relatable in a way that was surprisingly satisfying. I highly recommend Jane Eyre.

Ms Stevenson's performance is absolutely stunning. Couldn't ask for more. So many hours of pleasure. Highly recommended.

Juliet Stevenson could read the phonebook with an animation and warmth that would stir the heart of the coldest grump. Beautifully narrated and a great story. I’m delighted that I’ve joined Audible.com. Thank you! 😊
