Publisher's Summary

Karr is a teenage boy like many others in the galaxy. He goes to school, helps his parents with the family business, likes speeders and droids. But Karr also has a secret: When he touches certain objects, he gets searing headaches and blacks out. And along with the pain sometimes come visions of people he doesn't know and places he's never been.

Karr's parents worry that he's sick; his grandmother is convinced the visions come from the Force. But it's been years since anyone has heard from the last of the Jedi - Luke Skywalker. Are there any Jedi left to guide Karr in the use of his abilities? Is anyone even willing to talk about the Jedi and what happened to them, as their memory continues to fade and the First Order rises? Stuck on his isolated home planet, Karr becomes a collector of historical artifacts, hoping to one day find an object that will give him a vision about the secrets of the Jedi.

When his grandmother dies and his parents announce they're sending him away to a school on the other side of the planet, Karr reaches his breaking point. He needs to know what his destiny holds, and whether the Jedi are involved. Accompanied by Maize, the blunt, unpredictable new girl at school with ties to the First Order, and RZ-7, Karr's solicitous droid companion, he sets off into the larger galaxy to find the truth. His adventures will take him from Utapau to Jakku to Takodana and beyond as he learns more about the Jedi than he could have expected...and about his own place in the Force.

stick to the older star wars

I gave it a chance but it feels like it falls short of the old Eu and as such if your selecting it to reignite your passion for it, you will be better served looking elsewhere

An interesting tie in

I was very "meh" about this book until I got to the end. the way it's all tied up is pretty interesting and left me wondering, what's next?.

It's not what you think! in a good way

well, it's a great story it really is. well crafted and honestly I'm curious to read more. Basically this kid, a generation after the empire give or take, can have visions of the past when he touches items. he tries to learn about the force via this unique ability. Eventually he learns of order 66 and oh my gosh it sent goose bumps down my spine I was shook 😮. Great story telling. Wish there was more

dissapointing

This book had me hooked the plot is fun the characters are well written and you really get a feel for their journey.
you really think your about to embark on a special adventure with big outcomes
its a different direction to most of the star wars books and has some cool ideas.

unfortunately as noble as the ending tries to be its ultimately a let down and leaves me feeling like really it's just not a story worth being told.

It’s like a clip show

The story of a kid that runs around and experiencing “flash backs” from important scenes in the first and second trilogies

Ok

If your are consuming all the Star Wars novels, take a listen, but don't put it at the top of your list. Didn't learn hardly anything new about the Star Wars Universe...

Its a fun story...but lot to be desired.

Theres just not a whole lot of substance here. The characters are fine and not too annoying, but the story feels like fan servicr done poorly with some new characters tak'd on.

A Good Book But Cheesy Ending

I enjoyed a lot of the story in this book but for me the story didn't take it anywhere.

great story premise....BUT

i loved the idea of telling new viewpoints of the star wars saga through his visions like that....but i couldnt enjoy it as thoroughly as i would have if it were not set in the new unfortunate cannon of the pointless first order where the rebellion is virtually reduced to rubble in a few days by the inept supposed hero Po and then the writers went on to completely lop off jedi Luke skywalker at the knees and just miss the point completely what it meant to fans to have him bring back Jedi at his academy and restore balance. i just hate the whole thing and cant figure out why i keep reading new star wars books except for the little glimpses these new writings might give of the time before the cannon was completely wrecked and hey disney thanks for wrecking my childhood. yah....im bitter.

Nostalgic if anything, which I’m fine with...

What I liked about this story is the discovery and the fact that I knew what those discoveries were, which gave me goosebumps ie. nostalgia. Following Kay’s quest reminded me of how I first discovered Star Wars a few years after the first movie came out back in 1977. Showing my age, I know...lol!

It’s not very action packed at all, but it is fun and most young teens may enjoy it, especially if they are Star Wars fans. Also, I imagine fans of Star Wars in general will probably get a kick out of this book as I did.

It’s a quick read/listen and it will leave fans of the genre wanting to read other Star Wars books.
