Heart healing

I love all of Dr Estes‘ work but this piece made my heart just a little bit bigger. It filled me up. This is for everyone, especially women that have dared to live, and for those that want to show up and be the uninvited guest at the wedding or funeral.

Transcendent

To be savoured and returned to again and again. If you have lost a mother, grandmother or wise mentor or perhaps never had any of those to guide and comfort you, perhaps you will find sanctuary here. I know I did. Her wisdom is timeless and speaks to all socio economic backgrounds with respect and understanding. A treasure of a voice, calling back the soul, putting balm on our wounds.

Deep, Wise, Healing!

This is my favorite of the "Myths and Stories of the Wise Woman Archetype" series. Clarissa Pinkola Estes disassembles the negative cultural messages we receive about our bodies and provides a series of healing stories, images, and ideas which hold the body as sacred, unique, infinitely precious and idiosyncratic. She threads vivid and unique multicultural metaphors and tales throughout the sessions.

Her voice, pacing, and accents enrich the experience. Hers is a vibrant presence. She brings stories and ideas from many cultures and her language and accents vary by culture.

This is book I will listen to again and again. I could not fully integrate the wealth of knowledge, wisdom and healing in one "reading." Don't miss this unique experience.

Joyous Body

In a society of airbrushed perfection, Estes brings a much needed view of the beautiful body, as is. She helps you make the connection of body with the mind and soul.

Unprecedented! Delightful! Profound! Healing🧡

Dr. Estes has compiled many soul’s lifetimes of stories and wisdoms into a remarkable journey of coming home to one’s self, in a wholly un-mystical, raw, and completely unique and authentic fashion. I am profoundly grateful for her devotion to exposing the raw insides of the feminine- human understandings and for offering them to us with such care. Bless your beautiful soul Ms. Estes.

Body positivity without the benevolent father.

This book is a bit heavy and unbalanced around ignoring the benevolent side of culture and selective exclusivity of right action. She demonized othering and the book seems a bit tainted by third/fourth wave feminist concepts instead of balanced Jungian analysis. By tearing down hierarchy concepts she also elevates anti hierarchy above any selective hierarchy other than personal choice of self expression. We are products of the limitations of society and biology but they are not all bad and restrictive. Some are safeguards for better health, well being and social cohesion for hardships and bad times. She also uses her voice to sooth when there is a lot of unquestioned one sidedness in her stances. Jung supported looking in to the pain and suffering of life to raise conciousness, not just the positive and feel good aspects of self like this book is suggesting.
