Publisher's Summary

Keep your brain young, healthy, and sharp with this science-driven guide to protecting your mind from decline by neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta.

Throughout our life, we look for ways to keep our mind sharp and effortlessly productive. Now, globetrotting neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta offers insights from top scientists all over the world, whose cutting-edge research can help you heighten and protect brain function and maintain cognitive health at any age.

Keep Sharp debunks common myths about aging and cognitive decline, explores whether there’s a “best” diet or exercise regimen for the brain, and explains whether it’s healthier to play video games that test memory and processing speed, or to engage in more social interaction. Discover what we can learn from “super-brained” people who are in their 80s and 90s with no signs of slowing down - and whether there are truly any benefits to drugs, supplements, and vitamins. Dr. Gupta also addresses brain disease, particularly Alzheimer’s, answers all your questions about the signs and symptoms, and shows how to ward against it and stay healthy while caring for a partner in cognitive decline. He likewise provides you with a personalized 12-week program featuring practical strategies to strengthen your brain every day.

Keep Sharp is the only owner’s manual you’ll need to keep your brain young and healthy regardless of your age!

Very Thorough and Very Interesting

I recommend this book to anyone. Dr. Gupta makes the latest ( as of this publication date) information understandable, relatable and the information/ suggestions are very practical. He digs deeper into information to provide background schema which helps to build our capacity for understanding, yet it was still understandable to those of us not in this field of study. It was a pleasure to hear Dr Gupta’s voice as a narrator. He spoke clearly, at a moderate and therefore very appropriate pace. I always listen to Audible Books as I walk and so it felt as if I were walking with a very smart, yet humble friend who is an expert in his field. Although I live in Canada his advice was very relatable in terms of sources for support and overall information. I appreciated the studies that he cited. I wish that we could convince very wealthy people to partner with governments for villages as he described about the village in the the Netherlands. I really feel that this was well worth my time and money. It will be one that I listen to from start to finish again in the upcoming months and beyond. Thank you Dr Gupta and all who made this book possible.

Kind of long winded. Struggling to find new information that we already

Questions in book

I only wish I would have realized there were so many questions in the book. Listening on Audible, it was tough for me to follow adequately and get the most benefits from the book. So, I now will need to buy the book. Great, great info though!.

Exercise and eat nuts

Dr. Gupta certainly wants you to know how very hard he researched this book, and how very many experts he consulted while writing it. He tells you this over and over again.

Nevertheless, I learned nothing new from this book. It’s essentially a rehash of the latest articles from New Scientist and Scientific American. The last hour of the book is him giving you various organizations to contact if you fear you may be at risk for dementia. I’m pretty sure people use Google to discover such things these days, and unsure why it was included. I patiently waited for something enlightening or revelatory - or NEW - but was left wanting. I’m unclear as to why this book was even written. My best guess is that it’s targeting people who quite literally know NOTHING at all about brain health.
