Read it twice

With so much disinformation about this complex diet, this book gives you accurate guidance without getting too mucked up in the details. Recipes are healthy and balanced, and after having spent the last 6 months obsessed with everything Keto, I can tell you the plan is solid. He just doesn’t go into why or compare to other crappier versions of the diet. I read it, I strayed and went “dirty keto” and when I read it again I realized how smart it really was. This is the ultimate reference.

Many better books out there on KETO

Not sure why i listened to the whole thing...instead of improving it got worse as I persisted. It is pedantic and actually filled with poor or actually incorrect information. Had to write this review when near the end the author once again said to take B vitamin supplements because there are no grains in KETO. Meat is an excellent source of B vitamins. Do NOT use this book if you are embarking on KETO. But DO get some better information on the subject and consider this healthful way of eating.

Excellent Information

Dr. Axe was detail oriented and provided information regarding Keto and how it is beneficial to your health from cancer, pms , menopause diabetes etc. He explains very well how to sustain this overall way of life once you are done the initial plan of 30 to 90 days. His step by step weekly menus and recipes are excellent for those just beginning Keto or for those who appreciate an outlined plan. As well as Dr Axe includes education on which herbs, vitamins and essential oils that will help you on this Keto journey! Love this book!

Doubt the plan would even achieve ketosis in most

I want to start this review by sharing that I have been on a ketogenic diet for over a year and have seen many health benefits related to being in ketosis. Highly recommend the ketogenic diet, just not this book.
I have several issues with this book I will list below:
1. The 30 day plan likely doesn’t have enough fat and too much protein and carbohydrates for most individuals to get into ketosis.
2. The keto cycling plan was so frequent (every third day) that most of the population would likely never get back into ketosis even if they were able to get there in the first place.
3. Many of the foods recommended are highly processed foods, many of which are inflammatory.
4. So much anecdotal ‘evidence’ used to recommend many of the herbals and supplements. Vast majority of his herbal and dietary supplement recommendations are not substantiated by scientific literature. Furthermore, the amount of herbals and supplements this guy recommends would cost a fortune each month and take like 30 minutes just to ingest each day.

Overall, I’m disappointed in this book. I’m really hoping for a keto diet book that sticks to the evidence and doesn’t demonize the health profession like other keto books.

Some good info mixed in with a bit of iffy stuff

The good news? You can speed up the narration to twice as fast and get through the book in half the time. That’s how slow the narrator is. Also, there is some good information regarding collagen and macro information, but there’s also sections about how helpful essential oils are, and how to align your chi. If you are not into that alternative stuff, there is still enough good info here to make it a worthwhile read.

Amazing so much great info!

Joined Dr. Axe's street team before his book was released and been doing his keto for about 1 month and have lost 10lbs! Getting so close to my goal of losing 100lbs I set in 2015 only about 14lbs to go! This book is amazing and has so much good info not just on keto but supplements and oils! I actually got the audible book and listened to it then purchased the actual book so I could highlight all the good info to go find it easier! Even if you are not doing Keto there is so much good info in this book I recomend it!

Great book on Keto! The best I’ve read yet!!

I really liked the fact that Dr. Axe included things outside of diet like meditation, Bible reading, and taking warm baths with Epson salt! I know that being healthy for the rest of my life will incorporate all of these not just what I eat and I feel he did a great job giving a variety of foods on the different sample menus that he had in the book! I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to change their life for the better and someone looking for a whole life approach.

Keto solves everything including hot dog thumb

I got this book because I want to go on the Keto Diet. This book did not help much. It was a long list of the benefits of Keto, which I did not find persuasive. The author should acknowledge that there is a positive study for everything. The book describes the benefits ad nauseam and too many anecdotal evidence. You could write the same book on wheat and beer using published studies and anecdotal evidence.

The book is a religious book, and not a practical book in my opinion.

Cancer Survivor

I am a four year cancer survivor and this is the first time I feel like I understand what happened to my body and how to move forward. I finally dropped 25 pounds and I have been stuck since the holidays addicted to sugar again!

Thank you for giving me the knowledge and understanding of the best Keto diet plan! I have been converted to work with my body, mind and spirit to live my best life.

Try the Sample

I couldn't listen. The narrator sounds like a machine, and the author spends the first half trying to sell "My Keto Diet". I just could not continue.
