I actually really enjoyed King of Ruin. It had a good storyline with a few twists and turns that kept things interesting without feeling over the top. There were some genuinely cute moments, and I especially liked the relationship both main characters had with Valentine. Those interactions added a lot of heart to the story especially with the added friend more towards the end. I am excited to read the next book in the series!

One thing that really stood out to me was the narration. Both narrators did a pretty good job, especially when voicing the opposite sex. They didn't try to force exaggerated voices, which made the performances feel much more natural and believable. It made it easy to stay immersed in the story instead of being distracted by over-the-top character voices. and no overly exaggerated accents either!!

Overall, it was an enjoyable audiobook with likable characters, a solid plot, and narration that enhanced the experience. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a mafia romance that's equal parts sweet, entertaining, and easy to listen to. The MMC was alittle naive but she understandably had some trust issues but the girl was proud, smart and had grit!

Don't waste your time unless you like young dense women who of course are virgins along with a huge age gap. It took me a bit to get past the narrators. This was a duel and neither in my opinion did well on the opposite sex.

I honestly have nothing good to say about this one. I tried to get thru it several times and it just got worse for me. She was just plain stupid and seemed to lose more brain cells as the story went along.

DNF Couldn't get past the FMC

I really wanted to finish this (even tried listening at 2x speed), but i just can’t stand the FMC. I don’t mind a damsel in distress FMC, but there are damsel in distress characters that are so well written you can’t help but love.

And then there’s this. Absolutely no redeeming quality (besides the fact that she’s pretty and has magical tight kitty). Just weak, stupid, and irrational bordering on braindead. The writer tried to make her look like she’s a strong independent badass but she just comes off as entitled and pathetic. For example FMC was supposed to be a hard worker who’s desperate for money, then proceeds to spend her time at work hiding in the kitchen closet to avoid MMC (idk why she can’t just keep working while still actively avoiding him), then when the MMC finds her all of a sudden she has to get back to work because she doesn’t want the manager to fire her (maybe she should've thought about that before she hid in the closet 5 mins into her damn shift), then she plays hard to get for a bit but still eventually scream f*cks MMC in said closet with her coworkers just outside working. Afterwards she has the audacity to be butthurt when her manager sends her home and refuses to pay her?!

And then when she was at the mansion, she was listening through a door and it opened, it startled her so she fell back. She couldn’t stand back at all without the help of the bodyguard, even though he already told her that he’s not supposed to touch her. You mean to tell me she was able to jump off her burning apartment but needs someone to help her stand up, off the floor?! It was all just downhill from here.
