Gripping and intriguing mystery, although the cast of characters is almost entirely disagreeable. Worse, the ending - while perfectly reasonable - left a bad taste in my mouth. Still, the writing and storytelling was enjoyable and I’ll try one more Ruth Rendell before I give up.
