À propos de cet audio

After I rescued these jerks from a plane crash, you’d think they’d be nicer to me.

I die, like all the time. My track record of hilarious, freak-accidental deaths would be impressive if it weren’t so embarrassing.

And when I come back, I’m naked. Every. Dang. Time.

After my plane was sabotaged and crashed into the jungle, I rescued five male survivors from the wreckage.

I could have let them die, but no, I decided to pull their stupid carcasses from the wreckage. I’m immortal, not a monster.

Yes, they’re hot; now is not the time to do something about that.

The five sexy jaguar-shifters are on a mission to locate someone, a rare phoenix-shifter. Phoenix, the legendary creature, reborn every time it dies. Wait…

…Could they be looking for me?

It doesn’t matter since they walked away and left me to die in the Amazon rainforest. A place full of interesting new ways for a klutz like me to die. Surviving the jungle is harsh, but it’s nothing compared to how they have treated me.

And the worst part?

It turns out these bullies are my fated mates. Yep, I must be cursed.

I can’t wait to escape the jungle and leave these guys behind, but another part of me is begging to love them...

Was the Amazon always this hot?

But Did You Die is a comedy-filled, bully (first book only) paranormal-romance series that includes shifters, a mysterious underground society, and incredibly clumsy Phoenix. Follow Amaryllis as she discovers who she is and "collects" her soulmates along the way! This novel is the first in a new series that is packed with humor, adventure, and passionate scenes to entice and thrill you!

The series will have a happy ending...it will just take a little while to get there!

It's like watching The Meg again. Just Pure ridiculously fun. I laughed throughout. Felt her pain. Loved her made up words. Pure freedom from the author. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know why I keep torturing myself with these books.

If I pick up a dark romance, I open it knowing that the male is going to be a douche and will remain that way for most of the book. I expect it. I expect that he's going to be harsh and everything that I would want to smack. I know that the female is going to be treated like garbage and that at some point in the book, the male's feelings will go neutral and then to his dark twisted form of love. I expect that because I'm reading a dark romance.

This book is not supposed to be a dark romance (unless I missed that in the details), yet, the type of nasty behaviour by the male is multiplied by 5 in this book and the weak female character who has always wanted love and has a violin playing, river flowing past (sappy), but who we are repeatedly told is strong, fits this female lead to a T.

I'm convinced some authors don't know how to write a book where the female isn't a weak, submissive, crying all the time, hyperventilating person, yet is written as someone who has a lot of power, and I must be doing something seriously wrong for this book to show up on my suggested, or my "we think you would like" list. This book portrays all the things I do not like in romance novels and it boggles me why we have any authors who keep repeating the same garbage outline where this form of character gibberish is validated by positive reviews. It is not validated, I tell you now, it is not. Stop writing books where the female is, in theory, the strongest out of all, but, in the book, the weakest. We can have great romance and fantasy books with strong females.

SO, the FL grew up knowing she could regenerate, yet, like all these books seem to spin, believed she was a freak. She didn't try to explore or test her powers AT ALL for over 20-something years, until, of course, her 5 men come waltzing in. Are you kidding me? Her inner self doesn't even become active until after she meets these men, and then it becomes this doe-eyed, innocent, golden retriever type 12-year old, "big bug, must zap". WTF?!

The MLs are the 5 worse mates ever! five panther or cat shifters who apparently have made the stupidest pat with each other that stipulates if they found their mate, they would ignore said mate, deny the bond and would choose their brotherhood of 5 and their missions instead of said aforementioned mate. What kind of nonsense is this? like if that's something that with just a shift in mindset they could change. Is this what it looks like when an author cannot come up with an idea for angst and is also toying with an enemies-to-lovers storyline?

Whatever, dumb men. The heroine, (not knowing these men), and these men all get onto a plane. The author would like us to believe that even though they're mates, and they're supposed to be seriously attracted to each other from the get-go, that throughout this short plane ride, none of them noticed anything amiss. Then the plane crashes and out of all the people on the plane. This woman saves only these 5. She keeps going back into the plane, dying in the process, to save them all, even pulling one from underwater. However, instead of gratitude, these children, said to be adult men, treat her worse than the gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe. They are mean in words and actions. Ready to leave her to die, even after realizing she is their mate because they thought she was human, only changing their minds and bringing her along with them when they realize she is the Phoenix shifter they were sent to find. You would think that would change things, but no. I thought, with only a less than 6 hour book, this nonsense would get better by hour 2, right? Nope. So I gave up.

I kept thinking, is this author trying to send a message that we should rise above mean people and if we treat them how we would want to be treated it would be better? Is that what the ambush scene was about? The nastiest of the 5, after belittling and bullying her, ties to manhandles her and gets himself zapped by her powers, then they get ambushed and without thought to the 4 other supposedly elite shifters, she runs and sacrifices herself by throwing herself in the path of bullets meant for the bully (sidenote: the scene was hilarious, because they only shoot at the bully, and none of the other 4 do anything). Call me heartless but if someone belittles, bullies and manhandles me repeatedly and then is about to get hit by a car , i'm not interveneing...natural selection.

With only 1 hour left until the end of the book, and with them still treating her like crap and her still hyperventilating, crying with this "they're supposed to want me, I thought I found a home" mentality while still risking her life to save them, I couldn't listen to another minute. I definitely will NOT be reading book 2 or anything else by this author.

I listened to the audible version and I was NOT a fan of the narrators.

Crap!

Oh come on! This book stretched the absolute limits of believability. The FMC was essentially abandoned repeatedly to a gruesome death in the jungle by the MMCs, and yet as soon as they demonstrated a glimmer of remorse and attraction, she was ready to forgive all and drop 'trou, so to speak. This was a DNF for me.

Lacks believability
