Publisher's Summary

Dr. Kimberly Donovan's life is in shambles. After her medical ethics are questioned, first her family, then her closeted lover, the Chief of the ER, betray her. Determined to make a fresh start, she flees to California and LA Metropolitan Hospital.

Dr. Jess McKenna, LA Metro's Chief of the ER, gives new meaning to the phrase emotionally guarded, but she has her reasons.

When Kim and Jess meet, the attraction is immediate. Emotions Jess has tried to repress for years surface. But her interest in Kim also stirs dark memories. They settle for friendship, determined not to repeat past mistakes, but secretly they both wish things could be different.

Will the demons from Jess's past destroy their future before it can even get started? Or will LA Metro be a place to not only heal the sick, but to mend wounded hearts?

Contains mature themes.

Good

I thought this was a good book. It had a nice romance with flawed characters, but they got there eventually. The writing was good and the narration amazing.

This is a bad book

Angela Dawe's narration can save almost anything, but this book is just so bad. The plot and pacing are non-existent, the characters are mediocre at best, and the serious themes are so horribly handled. The prose are fine, but the writing structure overall is amateurish. There's no sense of character development or any overarching plot, not to mention the POV slides around uncomfortably. Thoroughly disappointed and I will not be revisiting this author.

enjoyed!

I enjoyed the story line of this book. Jess has a secret that holds her back from getting to know Kim,as they both work the ER. Not a lot of steamy sex in this book but the story line is enjoyable. I will listen to this audible book again at a later date because I liked it so much!

I will never again put myself in a position

where I listen to a long detailed rape where a strong, smart woman suffers in silence and yet she somehow is functioning in society while the dude faces no consequences. It is very rare for a woman to suffer that abuse and then is able to function. 100% of women in prison have been raped. Yes I know professional women who have also been raped. How about we start telling women focused stories of hope and resilience that does not treat abuse and misogyny as something we just have to deal with. One way I’m going to increase my coping skills and mental health is to no longer financially support writers who manufacture angst on women’s backs.

Spectacular story of reclaiming your heart.

This book just touched so many emotions. Really amazing professional woman who have been kicked by patriarchy at its worst. Perhaps it is true that time heals but Kim and Jess needed each other to find a healing future. Angela Dawe brings everyone to life, even little Tara who grabbed my heart. The dialogue was openly challenging and very wity but raw at times. The relationship built by the main characters is strong and embraces all of live. I love this R.J. Nolan and will be reading more of her work.

Don’t bother

Seriously-don’t bother. The secondary voices speaking-what they were really thinking was annoying. Just plain not worth listening to

LA Metro major success!

LA Metro is a wonderful, romantic, book that catches your attention from the first sentence on. The characters are strong and believable and the romance between them is steamy!
I have been a fan of RJ Nolan for many years and have consistently been impressed with her writing.

You can't help but smile! 💙

The LA Metro books are my favorite series!
Coming from a first responder, and someone who has gone through some of the struggles each character has to face you couldn't be happier.

The narrator was amazing, kept the story going with trye feelings also. I hope the series keep on going!
