Story
Ambitious ice queen and corporate lawyer Felicity Simmons has spent her life focused on one thing: scuttling up the career ladder. She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Not that Felicity has any interest in some opinionated Amazon or her adorable fleabag of a dog.

Story
For solitary novelist Jorie Price, true love seems as fictional as the shape-shifting creatures she writes about in her paranormal romances. Griffin Westmore doesn't believe in love, either, but she's one of those not-so-fictional shape-shifters who secretly live among humans. When Jorie's writing gets uncomfortably close to the truth, Griffin is sent to investigate and, if necessary, kill the author to protect the secrets of her kind. But when Griffin unexpectedly finds herself drawn to Jorie, her world is turned upside down.

enjoyed!
I enjoyed the story line of this book. Jess has a secret that holds her back from getting to know Kim,as they both work the ER. Not a lot of steamy sex in this book but the story line is enjoyable. I will listen to this audible book again at a later date because I liked it so much!

I will never again put myself in a position
where I listen to a long detailed rape where a strong, smart woman suffers in silence and yet she somehow is functioning in society while the dude faces no consequences. It is very rare for a woman to suffer that abuse and then is able to function. 100% of women in prison have been raped. Yes I know professional women who have also been raped. How about we start telling women focused stories of hope and resilience that does not treat abuse and misogyny as something we just have to deal with. One way I’m going to increase my coping skills and mental health is to no longer financially support writers who manufacture angst on women’s backs.

Spectacular story of reclaiming your heart.
This book just touched so many emotions. Really amazing professional woman who have been kicked by patriarchy at its worst. Perhaps it is true that time heals but Kim and Jess needed each other to find a healing future. Angela Dawe brings everyone to life, even little Tara who grabbed my heart. The dialogue was openly challenging and very wity but raw at times. The relationship built by the main characters is strong and embraces all of live. I love this R.J. Nolan and will be reading more of her work.

LA Metro is a wonderful, romantic, book that catches your attention from the first sentence on. The characters are strong and believable and the romance between them is steamy!
