À propos de cet audio

Why must a widow newly emerged from mourning be invited to every wedding in the realm?

Lady Violet Belmaine ponders that conundrum while traveling from London to rural Scotland at the invitation of an old friend. Escorted by her dashing physician friend, Hugh St. Sevier, Violet prepares to again subject herself to a nuptial celebration—except that the groom fails to appear.

Matters become more interesting when Violet discovers that Sebastian MacHeath is laird of the nearest castle and well acquainted with the bride and her family. Mysterious cousins, surly neighbors, and appearances much at variance with the facts all confound Violet’s efforts to find the missing groom, as well as any designs she might have on her handsome escort!

Another interesting novel, ruined by the American narrator who believes she is capable of speaking the King's English. Why do Americans believe they have the ability to mimic English? No, you can't, just accept it and allow a qualified narrator to enhance the novel instead of detracting from it. It is arrogant for the producers of this audiobook, as well as Kirsten Potter, to believe the fake accents used for the narration are appropriate. They are not. The mis-pronunciations of such basic words as potato, stashed, aunt, and the letter Z are disgraceful. It is "zed", not "zee". That is the most common American bastardisation. Potato is not pronounced, poe-tah-toe. Aunt is not pronounced "oont ". Stashed is not pronounced "staushed". The narrator should be embarrassed.

I love the novels but utterly dislike the narration.

I fully recommend this novel as appropriate for all ages. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series but not the narration, since Kirsten Potter is the narrator.

Again, another great novel ruined by the narrator!
