Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Hazel Gaynor has joined with Heather Webb to create this unforgettably romantic novel of the Great War.

August 1914. England is at war. As Evie Elliott watches her brother, Will, and his best friend, Thomas Harding, depart for the front, she believes - as everyone does - that it will be over by Christmas, when the trio plan to celebrate the holiday among the romantic cafés of Paris.

But as history tells us, it all happened so differently....

Evie and Thomas experience a very different war. Frustrated by life as a privileged young lady, Evie longs to play a greater part in the conflict - but how? - and as Thomas struggles with the unimaginable realities of war, he also faces personal battles back home, where War Office regulations on press reporting cause trouble at his father's newspaper business. Through their letters Evie and Thomas share their greatest hopes and fears - and grow ever fonder from afar. Can love flourish amid the horror of the First World War, or will fate intervene?

Christmas 1968. With failing health, Thomas returns to Paris - a cherished packet of letters in hand - determined to lay to rest the ghosts of his past. But one final letter is waiting for him....

Full narrative cast includes Alex Wyndham, Billie Fulford-Brown, Morag Sims, Gary Furlong, Greg Wagland, Antony Ferguson, Derek Perkins, Jane Copland, and Mary Jane Wells.

The most beautiful book I’ve ever read!!

Tears! Tears! Tears! I was in tears toward the end. When I purchased this book as an Audible daily deal, I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere as good as it is! A WW1 romance that moved me to tears. The letters were eloquent and so beautifully written!! I will re-read this book many times. This is also my first book by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb and it will not be my last.

Last Christmas in Paris

This is not your typical Christmas book. That said, it is touching and unpredictable. I recommend this book as something to round out what might be a generous Christmas. If not generous, this story will help smooth the edges of your despair. Read or listen to it. Cheers.

A Masterpiece

I picked this book up from my local library when I was a young man.

I will surely, when the time comes, read it on my deathbed. Or, listen to it.

The menagerie of narrators do an incredible job bringing the cast of characters to life — even the smaller side characters that get only a few moments' time to shine, such as Charles Abshire. They bring to life the emotions and thoughts each character feels. I cannot praise this story well enough, for I do not have the words.

Read it, listen to it, enjoy the masterwork of writing.

Wonderful story

A tale written in a precious way that allows understanding of the WW1 time period and the struggle of the human spirit and love that endured. A great read at any time of the year!
