Publisher's Summary

With Paul Noble’s simple, relaxed approach you will learn in a way that suits you – without having to memorise long lists of words you won’t use; scribbling notes as you listen; or feeling frustrated. Instead, Paul will introduce you to the basics of the French language and guide you through over 12 hours of everyday scenarios – from simple situations like asking for directions and eating out to talking about yourself and how to master the different tenses – that are practical, fun, and applicable. Just listen, interact, and learn wherever you are.

Whatever your experience with languages, whether you’re an absolute beginner or someone with basic knowledge who wants to improve their ability, this is the course to get you speaking French quickly, confidently, and with no chance of failure.

A native-speaking French expert will help you to perfect your pronunciation as you progress through the course. You will learn a huge range of vocabulary in no time at all, and be able to quickly make your new knowledge work for you in a variety of everyday scenarios. A downloadable booklet is also included to use as a reference and revision tool.

Paul Noble left school unable to speak a language – having found that the traditional learning methods left him feeling ‘confused, incapable and unable to really say anything’. Determined that there must be a better way to learn, Paul spent years devising his own unique method of learning languages which cuts out all the grammar, all the memorisation, and all the stress. He began using his method to teach in his Language Institute and, thousands of students later, he prides himself on never having had a student fail.

This download contains the entire course – Parts 1, 2, and 3. To continue your language learning journey once you’ve completed this course, download Next Steps in French with Paul Noble for Intermediate Learners – Complete Course.

Excellent course!

I’ve tried many different ways to learn French with not much progression, but this course was done in a way that helps you understand, remember and create sentences you’d actually use in real life. This audio style of learning helps to memorize without the distraction of text, verb charts and spelling/accents which are supplied in an excellent separate pdf resource to study afterwards. I actually look forward to doing the intermediate course next (:

I Can't believe I am learning! So exciting!

I am an absolute beginner in French! By having the first language as Farsi and second language as English and no French exposure in the past, I thought it could be challenging to learn!
I signed up for a class and after 5 sessions, learned nothing and gave up.
Oh My! this book is fantastic! I was hooked after one lesson! I am at lesson 10 now and enjoy practicing!
It made me interested in watching some French Cartoon, and I enjoy that I can pick up some words during the show!
Highly recommend it! Thank you Paul Noble

One request

Is it possible to get close captioning? Would be great to see while on on the treadmill; the PDF just doesn’t cut it on a phone. Otherwise, I really enjoy listening to this course.

The best way to learn French!

Paul makes it so easy to understand concepts and actually remember them! The tricks he uses and anecdotes really helped me remember grammar rules, word endings, and concepts that I had been struggling to grasp with all other forms of learning. Highly recommend for anyone learning French!

Super Useful

I began with zero knowledge of French, and I was having a lot of fun stringing sentences together and with ease adding new vocabulary to my repertoire. I practice stringing together sentences through the day, and it's the perfect prep course as I go into further study.

Poor editing

Problem hearing the first part of the French response. It seems to have been cut off. Other than that I’m really enjoying it.

Excellent. Use this first before Rosetta Stone

Paul Noble does an amazing job making French structure and grammar easy to understand, learn, and retain. I had been using Rosetta Stone, but found myself lost on structure. I then used Paul Noble's French and I had so many "a- ha, now I get it!" moments that I paused Rosetta and will finish Noble first. Amazing job. A definite must if yo want to learn French essentials.

Great language learning tips and drills!

I almost didn't get this because I am more at an intermediate level than a beginner level, but I'm so glad I did. It has great tips for remembering how and why certain things are done in French, that are making it much easier for me to use the language! And there were great practice sessions on the the things I needed more practice on, such as the placement of pronouns in a sentence. There are also practice sessions at the end without the explanations that are good for review or for more advanced learners. I'm not sure how this would have worked for me if I had been a beginner but it was a great program for me.

Great Introductory Course to French

Firstly, I loved this complete course. Paul Noble's teaching method is VERY similar to Michele Thomas (for those of you familiar with his teachings) and very effective in the same way - It's essentially "listen & repeat" throughout the entire course, but also comes with a very useful PDF download that I would suggest adding to your space repetition method, ie: Anki deck to help remember what you've learned.

I started learning French using Pimsleur, which was effective in the same way, but I found it very boring and couldn't continue. This course really came in where that left off and I found no problem following the chapters without getting bored.

A few of the reviews are giving this a bad rating because of the similarities to the Michele Thomas courses, which is ridiculous. If anything, they should give a great review because of that!

Thanks for reading, everyone!

A smart approach to French you can actually learn!

Fantastique! I studied French decades ago in college and spoke well, yet lost everything due to lack of practice. What's more, it was always a strain to understand the logic of French or to discern predictable patterns that jump-started my vocabulary and understanding. This course changes that! I am *VERY* impressed with the simple, memorable explanations and the "building blocks" approach – so different from other courses. Within a few lessons I was sounding confident and actually understanding what was going on...caught myself laughing at myself and thinking "I can't believe I just said that!" Excellent and highly recommended.

So helpful

I’ve messed around with learning French as an adult numerous times and this program has been the most helpful to me. The building block style of teaching, explanations and repetition enabled me to finally get over a few hurdles that have confounded me in the past.

Tons of material, simply explained!

Paul Noble does a wonderful job of explaining difficult language concepts simply, so that, by the end of the course, I had learned the basics of three French tenses without frustration. No long vocabulary lists. Instead, this focuses on how to put sentences together. I was surprised and pleased with how quickly and easily the material came. Highly recommend for those beginning to learn French!

full sentences in French very fast.

to fast for full sentences. slowing it down drags the English to long. and often go right into the next thing without be able to think to much about it. understand this is part of the way he wants you to learn it. but I find myself stuck for words like it's right there but I can't quite remember unless I listen to the chapter 3-4 times.

none of this is deal-breakers but having your phone on hand is a must to pause it or go back. I try to keep this to a minimum and short.

Well-paced and thorough

Just 30 minutes every day in my car was a great way to get comfortable with the beginnings of the French language. I’m excited to go to the next level!

An excellent way to learn

I have taken French in the past, but this course gives me hope that I will be able to actually come away with useful knowledge. Paul Noble does an excellent job with the narration and the material is presented in a way that is really making the concepts stick. I never thought I had a prayer at becoming multilingual before now. I highly recommend this book to anyone who thought language-learning was impossible!

Useful

I really liked the course. As someone who wasn’t a total beginner, I still learned a lot. The only problem was with pronunciation. The author didn’t explain all of it. For example, during the whole course a native speaker would pronounce phrases by each word and not the way French speak in the daily life. So
I remembered that wrong way of saying things. And in the end of the course, during repetition of the material, I was caught off guard by pronunciation. What was taught before(the wrong way) was different from the end( the right way). The native speaker spoke fast and didn’t even pronounce some of the letters and words. It was new for me but it wasn’t explained before. That’s why I am so confused and annoyed now. I think everything should be taught right from the beginning. Yes it is good to know how each word is pronounced but it shouldn’t be said more than once, especially if it’s different in daily speech.

Excellent foundation course

I am working very hard on becoming fluent in French, I'm lucky enough to have moved to France 18 months ago. I understand and read French well, but am battling with getting the flow of spoken French / conversation going. I decided to go back to basics and this course does it! New tricks to remember aspects of sentence construction and grammar, working with pronunciation and basic tenses. I highly recommend this and am now moving on to Paul's next level.
