Great for travelers or absolute beginners

I'm traveling to Japan for the second time and I'm currently studying Japanese but I often forget certain words or how to say certain things so I purchased this as supplementary material. It was a good refresher though the only thing I found was that it lacked some nuance from a cultural standpoint. In the Japanese language, things are often said in a gentle and polite manner so as not to offend the other person.

For instance, the word "kirai" is equivalent to "hate". If you want to say you dislike something, it's better to say "(...) nigate desu" which translates to "I dislike/don't do well with (...)".

Regardless, it's a great survival phrasebook for traveling. Some topics seem irrelevant in the present day i.e. the chapter on public phones/phones cards, but maybe someone will find it helpful. I especially liked that they included a section on food and dietary restrictions. There's a vocabulary list at the end which also proves useful
