Publisher's Summary
The United States is ready to make a triumphant return to the moon, striking out boldly into the solar system in an attempt to regain the confidence of the heady days of the Apollo program. But a shocking discovery at Shackleton Crater brings the first Prometheus mission to an abrupt halt. Remote robots have uncovered human skeletal remains - and forensic analysis at NASA reveals the corpse to be over 700 million years old. As the news of this discovery is leaked across the universe - and a battle rages over the truth of our heritage - the Event Group is tasked to unravel the mystery behind this ancient visitor. Colonel Jack Collins once again leads a team of the world's greatest scientists and philosophers on a journey that will take the Event Group into the realm of space and confront one of humanity's most pressing questions: Could something - or someone - else be coming to finish a war that began almost a billion years ago?

If i hear Frozen one more time...
What would have made Legacy better?
Better editing. I think this book was written by a machine. Golemon appears to have mechanized his writing style. Constant overuse of expressions such as "cursed ", and, esp. "frozen" ( froze their blood, froze in place, froze when they saw , etc. etc. ) made this offering almost unlistenable.
The story lines are now predictable.SPOILER ALERT : No one in the Event Group will ever be harmed it appears, aside from age related issues.
That said, don't be someone from another country who gets involved with this team. Bad things will happen!
Would you be willing to try another book from David L. Golemon? Why or why not?
I am done with this series after this story.
Which scene was your favorite?
Nothing jumped out. The monsters were sort of cool.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger at the author for the slipshod effort. Poe does his usual high quality presentation, but even he can't put lipstick on this pig.
Any additional comments?
Unless you are a diehard Event Group fan, I recommend avoiding this offering.

Remedial
Ugh. Basically, Clive Cussler but on the moon.
Utterly cliche, worn out, trite and boring. One character actually used the term "Ray Gun." God, really?
The story structure relies on such spoon-fed convenience, that it's not just unbelievable, but annoying. I hate being 5 steps ahead of the narrator. I'm no prodigy, but I found myself thinking things like "...really?" and "no shit," and "great, can we please get on with it?"
And the narrator didn't help matters. He'd be great narrating a mid-70s crime novel. SciFi ain't his gig, though.
I had to quit after 2 hours of eye rolling. Won't be buying anymore Event Group books.

Hooked
Would you listen to Legacy again? Why?
I loved this book - there's enough intrigue and action to satisfy my tastes. I've become a devoted advocate of the Event Group series of books. My only problem is that some of the descriptions don't tell you what book in the series they are, in which case, I've just had to guess and plug ahead. Legacy sets up the foundation for any number of follow-on books to carry on the tale begun here, but so far, I haven't stumbled on a sequel. Hopefully there will be one forthcoming. I just finished the Carpathian book, which also leaves the foundation for follow up books, but who knows what such a follow up will be called, or when it will be released. These, to me, are the only shortcomings in the series, but they won't stop me from reading every Event Group book that David writes. I love the characters, the narrator, and the story lines.
What did you like best about this story?
An excellent combination of familiar characters, a space anomaly, and action!
Which character – as performed by Richard Poe – was your favorite?
As always, you just gotta love Colonel Jack Collins and Sarah Mackintyre (however they're spelled).
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
There's something out there, and it's coming this way . . .
Any additional comments?
I wish they'd make movies of this entire series! The characters and story lines are all gripping and exciting - what more could one ask in a movie?

Great book but out of order
Why did this come out after Overlord?? Otherwise another great Event group novel. Richard Poe is great as ever. The story keeps you going even though if you have overlord you know the ending kinda.

Wonderful narration, as ever
Ignoring the "hokey cokey" science, a good adventure!
Amusingly, the App tells me I need to submit at least 15 words .. Which I guess I've done now!
The Event Group saga will never be the best literary find in the world ... It is, however, great fun!

Brilliant as always
Listening to Legacy (as opposed to previously having read it), I found the story to be even more engrossing and emotional (especially at the end). I found myself using a few tissues to mop up the tears. I especially love the romance between Sarah and Jack, and hope this continues.
