Lemon meringue pie murder

The narrator did an excellent job of reading this book. I love how she portrayed Hannah and Freddy Sawyer and their personalities. I absolutely disliked and detested the way Freddy’s cousin Jed treated him. I would recommend this book to anybody who loves a good mystery and who enjoys women sleuths. I also recommend this to anybody who enjoys baking. The main character displays a love of mystery solving. This book also includes wonderful recipes.

A cute cozy

I'm not a fan of cozies, but bought this one at a friend's urging. It is a very typical cozy - a small town (with remarkably high crime rate), an amateur detective, no violence. If you're in to baking, I think you've more than likely already found this series, as it is filled with recipes. I was a little put off by the general primness of the characters (oh no! a grown man drinking and meeting women at bars? a woman possibly dating someone of a different race? phew! turns out she's not!), but it was a reasonable listen and probably very enjoyable for someone who likes cozies.

Is Hannah supposed to be 80?

I'm in the middle when it comes to this series. I had to check and see when this book was released because Hannah seemed to be very shocked that other characters in the book MIGHT have tattoos, be dating someone outside their race, get drunk, pick up women, or have bling put on their teeth. All of that is offensive or shocking to her but a man having an affair isn't and the fact that she's stringing two dudes along and holding hands with both of them at the same time is okay. To be honest, it kind of grosses me out that she kisses both Mike and Norman. *spoiler* She thinks doesn't want to marry her because shes overweight but it's probably because she can't make up her mind about Mike. Also, so much could be avoided if she got a cell phone.

As for the mystery, the author does a good job of unfolding clues and not adding too much filler like other cozy mystery writers do. I enjoy that aspect of this series.

I love it.

I borrow the book from the library, and I started reading from kindle then I purchased the audio. Since I am learning English this feature in which I can read and listen along is helpful. Nice story, narration.

Not up to standard

I have listened to almost every one of the fluke mysteries. This one was not as enjoyable as the others. There were far too many interruptions with recipes. The story was that week line and was not resolved at the end of the book. I generally enjoy her books but this one was a miss

Not Her Best

Still a big fan of the series, but this plot line wan not one of my favorites. I found the crime trail clumsy to follow, particularly the bank robbery aspect.
All of the other Joanne Fluke standards were pleasantly dependable, from her cast of local characters to the recipe tie-ins.

Didn't Age Well

While I enjoyed the first 2 books in Thai series I did start to notice some red flags that bugged me. They use derogatory language to reference a neurodivergent character. Made comments on "risky" clothing a 19yr old wears. There were a lot of other little things but it all sort of built up and made it an unpleasant experience.
