Publisher's Summary

From the sumptuous private drawing rooms of 18th-century Paris to the decadent estates and chateaus of the French countryside, La Marquise de Merteuil and Le Vicomte de Valmont hatch a long-distance plan of vengeance and seduction.

Valmont is determined to conquer the famously pious Madame de Tourvel, whose husband is abroad on business. However, Merteuil has other plans. She enlists his involvement in the seduction of a young convent girl, Cécile Volanges, the wife-to-be of the Marquise's former lover. But as they race toward the culmination of their plans, events start to spiral out of control and they realise that they might not be as in control of their hearts as once they thought.

Wow, what a performance!

I've seen the 1988 movie and that was my entire experience of this story. So I did come into this with the anticipation it would match the actors' performances from the movie. This drama exceeded all of my expectations... it was brilliant! While each of the cast was really superb, I'd have to say that Dominic West stole the show. He was far better than Malkovich -who was quite good in the role of Vicomte de Valmont. West was not over the top; but his skill was precision sharp.
This will be one that I will definitely listen to again and again. I love radio dramas and this one was so well done, I am going to look up the actual stage play and an English version of the book. The only danger to listening to this production is you'll be thoroughly entertained and addicted. :)
I wholeheartedly recommend this audiobook.

John Malkovich can eat poop

Dominic West was fucking amazing, there's no one better and John Malkovich can eat a bag of poop because Dominic West was the absolute perfect Valmont. I can't wait to listen again!
