Wounded in body and soul, the retired SEAL simply wants to remain holed up in his isolated cabin. He sure doesn’t want to be chief of police in some defunct town. But he has his orders.

That all changes, however, when he meets Taylor Cardin. I enjoyed the book more than the audio
Normally, if I enjoy a book, I'll enjoy the audio at least as much, especially when it's duet narration, but in this case, it just didn't work for me. A lot of the audio was stilted, and made me notice the repetitiveness of the heroine's thoughts more than I did when reading it. It seemed like the male narrator was trying just a little too hard to make the hero's "slight" Mexican accent noticeable, without it being exaggerated, (which, granted, is a tough thing to do), and as a result it was TOO exaggerated, if that makes sense?
Overall, still worth a credit, but not my favorite.

Can and JJ are awesome!
JJ is a female police officer who has had her reputation smeared by an ex. The rumors and lack of back up have put her life in jeopardy. Her training officer, who is firmly in her corner recommends she move to Rescue, Alaska to work with Gabe. When she interviews with him, she feels like it is where she needs to be.
Caz is Gabes brother, kind is a player with women, but always lets them know he’s not up for more. When he meets JJ while she’s in town for the interview, he is interested. When she turns him down, he realizes she is different.
This story is excellent. The Sons of the Survivalist series is one of my favorites and I’ve read them a couple of times... this time I listened. Worth the listen with two good narrators at work!!

Great book, inadequately read
The book as always is fantastic. The reading took away from the book greatly. The male lead sounded like he should be reading book down south as all the characters had the wrong accent and intonation. Totally painful to listen to.

I loved this story..
I thoroughly enjoyed the story of JJ and Caz. It was slow and building, a bit suspenseful, and sexy as all get out.
After suffering from the latest round of sexist behavior and lack of back up from her fellow officers, JJ has the opportunity to move to Alaska where she an start new and hopefully find a place she belongs that values her and makes her part of the community. Maybe Rescue, Alaska is the answer.
Caz loves his brothers and that’s all he needs in life. His brothers, living up to Macko’s mission, and loving the ladies. Taking care of women and children is not in the cards for his life. How interesting is it when he finds both will need him as much as he needs them.
So far, Caz will be my favorite brother. Sure his accent is sexy as hell, but he is the most stable and balanced person I’ve ever known. He likes to talk things out, express his needs and demands, and is extremely protective of those he loves. Watching him and JJ dance around their attraction only to eventually give in was beautiful to see. It was the same way with Caz and Regan. That little girl could melt the hearts of anyone she encounters....and she does. Seeing them all come together with his brothers and Audrey made for a very engaging story where you couldn’t help but wish the best for all involved.
The narration really brought the story to life. With the exception of Hawk and Bull’s voice, the voices match the character and you can truly get lost in the story being told.

Terrific story
Loved hearing more about life in small town rural Alaska. Really enjoyed Jayden’s story, it’s written from a very true perspective about dealing with the brotherhood. Enjoyed the addition of Regan and the storyline bringing in the dangers of earthquakes. This series has such interesting characters, can’t wait to read Bull & Hawk’s stories. Great narration by Mr. Qualen & Ms. St. Claire.

It Had SonMuch Potential
The first story was great but the second book was just flat. There was a lot of opportunities that were missed. The story seemed to skip some places. Like when JJ (how typically tomboy) was going to crochet the scarves. Then she was going to move out because of her reputation then everything is fine again. When did she and Kaz make up?
It was a 3 at best and only because I hope we get better books in 3 forward.
