Publisher's Summary
His name means hunter.
Once the best assassin in black ops, Cazador is now the best at saving lives. His path has changed from seeking bloody vengeance to running a health clinic in Rescue, Alaska.
He will never again risk loving someone he can’t protect.
His mother and sister were murdered in front of him, his fiancée slaughtered in a war zone. Despite his popularity with women, he’s determined to remain unattached. His heart can bear no more loss.
Unfortunately, the universe isn’t listening.
First, his brother hires JJ, a fiery-haired, tough cop who lives on the edge of danger and has the biggest heart of anyone he knows. And then, his disreputable past returns in the shape of an adorable, foul-mouthed nine-year-old daughter. Now he has two loved ones to protect. An impossible task, because...
Life is dangerous. Especially in Alaska.
What the critics say
"Four boys that grew up hard and were finally rescued by a tough as nails, ex-military survivalist--and grew up into incredibly fascinating, yet broken in their own way men? Yes, please, and thank you!" (Dirty Girl Romance)

So - so listen
I like Cherise Sinclair’s books generally but this one was underwhelming. Took me a really long time to plug through it. Not sure I would recommend

I enjoyed the book more than the audio
Normally, if I enjoy a book, I'll enjoy the audio at least as much, especially when it's duet narration, but in this case, it just didn't work for me. A lot of the audio was stilted, and made me notice the repetitiveness of the heroine's thoughts more than I did when reading it. It seemed like the male narrator was trying just a little too hard to make the hero's "slight" Mexican accent noticeable, without it being exaggerated, (which, granted, is a tough thing to do), and as a result it was TOO exaggerated, if that makes sense?
Overall, still worth a credit, but not my favorite.

Can and JJ are awesome!
JJ is a female police officer who has had her reputation smeared by an ex. The rumors and lack of back up have put her life in jeopardy. Her training officer, who is firmly in her corner recommends she move to Rescue, Alaska to work with Gabe. When she interviews with him, she feels like it is where she needs to be.
Caz is Gabes brother, kind is a player with women, but always lets them know he’s not up for more. When he meets JJ while she’s in town for the interview, he is interested. When she turns him down, he realizes she is different.
This story is excellent. The Sons of the Survivalist series is one of my favorites and I’ve read them a couple of times... this time I listened. Worth the listen with two good narrators at work!!

So good!
Such alphas! Romance plus intrigue, suspense and a little mystery. Love this series! Can't wait for the last two to be available on audible.

I can't handle it
While the first book in this series caught my attention, Lethal Balance drags on and on, made worse by the male narrator. The cadence, tone, and attempt at an accent makes the character sound creepy to the point where I have to stop the book. I don't think I can navigate the 5 remaining hours of cringe.

Gripping!
I enjoyed listening to this book. I thought the narration was well done.
Taking the journey with Caz navigating relationships with both JJ and Regan (don't worry, not cheating involved) was both heartwarming and sweet. I liked it when Caz figured out that he enjoyed spending time with JJ when they did nothing other than talk.
I loved the way Caz interacted with Regan and integrated her into the family. I also appreciated how Gabe, Bull, Audrey, JJ, and even Hawk accepted Regan. Talk about being raised by a village.
Regan was one of those kids I couldn't help but like. Trying to overcome her rough start, learning how to trust, supporting her friends, standing up to bullies, and appreciative of the things in life she thought she would never have made her character an important part of the story.
I liked the camaraderie, loyalty, and support between the brothers of heart, not blood. In spite of the issues with their early lives and their military careers, they were 4 caring, decent men.
I never thought JJ or Caz would have an easy time in the relationship department, but I was glad they found one another. I was also happy that JJ received the love, support, and sense of family she needed.
Looking forward to listening to Bull's book.

This Audible was fantastic! Cazador and JJ’s adventures and romance are so worth a credit to listen. Utterly in love with this character, and his brothers.

Cute
This was so cute. It made me laugh and worried. It had a good balance of ups and downs. I love the brothers and how they interact with each other. Another good one Mrs. Sinclair

Great book, inadequately read
The book as always is fantastic. The reading took away from the book greatly. The male lead sounded like he should be reading book down south as all the characters had the wrong accent and intonation. Totally painful to listen to.
