Publisher's Summary

Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture.

We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today - but not until we devote ourselves to her original priorities.

Listen to this book and be challenged, guided, and encouraged to passionately pursue God’s magnificent and beautiful vision for his church. Come and claim your part in this body of believers that is not just possible - it’s promised.

Timely and humble

I totally recommend this book and am thankful that #audible1 offers it. It’s an easy listen, well written and very important for the church to wrestle with today.

Lacking

Well the criticisms of the modern west church are valid, they are over generalized and not balanced out. This makes it highly discouraging and judgemental- as if the author can see inside individual Christians hearts and has found everyone to not meet his high standard of spirituality. And to be clear- it is often his own standard, not the bibles. Contrary to other reviews, I find this book to have a guise of humility with too many red flags that tell me it’s not genuine humility.

I agree with a lot of the criticism but find the solutions lacking. I don’t see this book helping churches.

Great read for Christ-followers

Great read - would recommend to every Christ-follower. Wonderful reminder to humble ourselves and allow the Scriptures to speak for itself and live it out.

The fourth chapter was missing a couple of sentences but it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Very challenging

What is the church and what is its purpose? This book beautifully challenges our assumptions on these questions and strives to bring us back to God's intentions. There were some things I didn't agree with right away, but I think those misgivings were out my own selfishness and preferences rather than because Chan was wrong. I need to listen to this one again sometime. I would call this essential reading for anyone in a church leadership role.

I also bought the hard copy and study guide

A powerful reminder that the church is the bride of Christ and how we ought to cherish it.

Decent little book

I was hoping for more information on the home church model. This is a very surface level view of that and heavy handed on "if you're are not seeing these things in your life, then be a better Christian".

Life changing!

This book pointed me towards Jesus and his broken and powerful body, as if rediscovered in its simplicity and purity.

Thought provoking

In this book Fancis Chan spells out his vision for an Acts style church, both within contemporary church structures, and alternatively how it can exist today through house churches. The message he delivers is no doubt on the heart of many western pastors and believers, but no one has the audience or the experience to deliver these ideas like Francis Chan does.
